NC native new Asst. AG for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon making a difference in DC | Eastern NC Now

Dhillon grew up in Wake County, NC as fan of Sen. Jesse Helms

ENCNow

Conservatives applauded President Trump's selection of Harmeet Dhillon as the new Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights in the US Department of Justice, where she works for Attorney General Pam Bondi.  Dhillon, of Indian ancestry, grew up in Wake County, North Carolina, where she credits her admiration for US Senator Jesse Helms as creating her interest in politics.  Dhillon went on to practice law in California where she was elected Republican National Committeewoman.  She was very involved in fighting Covid restrictinos and more recently in representing de-transitioners suing doctors who put them through gender transition surgery or drugs.

As Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, Dhillon is making waves by making the Office of Civil Rights work for all Americans.   That has led to some bellyaching by those who see its mission as limited to a select few groups.  Dhillon has the support of AG Bondi and President Trump to remake the Office of Civil Rights and she is moving fast to do so.
