Obituary: Mrs. Annie Helen Zelinsky Edwards | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Annie Helen Zelinsky Edwards, age 89, a resident of 1031 C.B.H. Lodge Road, Washington, died Sunday, February 6, 2011 at Beaufort County Medical Center in Washington.

    Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, conducted by Pastor Chris Leak.

    Mrs. Edwards was born in Grassville, Va. on June 2, 1921. She was the daughter of the late John Sabastian Zelinsky and Mary Vdjovack Zelinsky. At age 44, Mrs. Edwards graduated from Beaufort County Community College under Mrs. Katie Paul as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked at Beaufort County Hospital from 1965 to 1995 as an L.P.N. Mrs. Edwards and her husband once owned County Rulane Gas Company.

    On June 3, 1940, she married Earl O. Edwards, who preceded her in death, May 30, 1956. Mrs. Edwards' friend, J. Calvin Norman, preceded her in death in 1971.

    Survivors include her daughter, Marie E. Boyd of the home; her grandson, Chris K. Boyd and wife Ann of Washington; her granddaughter, Cheryl B. Thompson and husband, Devin of Grimesland; and her four great grandchildren, Christopher and Rebecca Boyd of Tarboro, Morgan and Kendall Thompson of Grimesland.

    In addition to her parents, husband, and friend, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Joe, Tony and Andy Zelinsky; her sister, Mary Z. Walker and two siblings at birth.

    The family will receive friends after the service at the home.
