North Carolina Experts Answer Questions About How Our Foods Are Grown And Raised, And The Farmers That Feed Us | Eastern North Carolina Now

    News Release:

At Food Dialogues®: North Carolina

RALEIGH, N.C.     The U.S. Farmers & Ranchers Alliance® (USFRA®), and the North Carolina Animal Agriculture Coalition (NCAAC) today convened two panels of experts from multiple disciplines, including farmers, scientists, health care providers, food and environmental professionals, to answer tough questions. These questions focused on the use of biotechnology in our crops, modern livestock farming practices and the impact agriculture has on the environment. The two panels entitled "What's on My Plate?" and "Who is My Farmer?" were moderated by Lynda Loveland, host of MIX101.5 WRAL-FM's Mix Morning Show and regular GoAskMom.com Blog contributor. The Food Dialogues®: North Carolina, which took place at the Raleigh Convention Center, was attended by more than 150 household food decision makers, with several hundred additional participants watching the discussion streamed live online.

"The Food Dialogues is a signature event series designed by USFRA® to answer the tough questions about agriculture," said Larry Wooten, President of N.C. Farm Bureau, a member organization of NCAAC. "We know many North Carolinians drive by farms that look different then they did years ago, and they have questions about modern farming. That's why it's so important that we do more events like this to provide information directly to consumers - we know we can't answer all the questions in one day, but hopefully everyone will agree today's event was a great start in establishing an ongoing conversation."

Today's panel discussion, which streamed live online, was moderated by Lynda Loveland and featured opening remarks from N.C Farm Bureau President, Larry Wooten. Panelists included:

We do this in a variety of venues, including within our communities and through media outreach. In addition, we act as a resource to help answer questions, model best practices and provide open insight into our products and practices to help the public understand the role animal farming plays in North Carolina.
