Layton Keith Colston | Eastern NC Now

    Layton Keith Colston, age 73 a resident of Blounts Creek, died Wednesday October 8, 2025, at ECU Health Beaufort Hospital.

    Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Smyrna FWB Church with Tim Whealton officiating. Burial will follow in the Charles Raeford Jones Cemetery, Kenley, NC.

    The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.

    Layton was born on October 12, 1951, in Wrightsville, Georgia to the late Alvin Layton Colston, Jr. and Anne Miller Colston. He attended school in Vienna, Georgia. On September 20, 1980, he married Connie Strickland. Layton retired from Georgia Pacific in 2002 as regional vice president, in the chemical division-resins. He was a member of Smyrna Free Will Baptist Church where he served as deacon, and a member of Gideons International. Layton loved riding motorcycles, boating and all kinds of sports. He loved doing anything outside and helping others. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Bruce Colston.

    Survivors include his wife, Connie Strickland Colston of the home, his children, Sheila Meshanco, Holly Arrington and Kasey Colston, brother, Greg Colston (Sheila) of Brooks, Georgia, sister, SuAnn Bird (Mike) of Americus, Georgia, eight grandchildren.
