    Mr. Frederick Earl "Fred" Wilson, age 87, a resident of Washington, NC died Sunday October 12, 2025, at his home.

    A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday October 17, 2025, at the Alligood Family Cemetery, officiated by Marty Alligood.

    Mr. Fred was born in Dallas, Texas on February 8, 1938, the son of the late Earl Lawrence Wilson and the late Mary Lee Shellito Wilson. He was a graduate of Crozier High School in Dallas and continued his education at Milligan University in Johnson City, TN, East Carolina University and Mid Atlantic Christian College. He earned his master's degree and all but dissertation toward his Doctorate. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. On July 24, 1960, he married the former Betty Lou Alligood who preceded him in death on September 24, 2009. He was a teacher who became a principal in the Beaufort County School System. He also was the Headmaster at Pungo Christian Academy in Belhaven following his public-school career. His ministry led him to preach at Pinetown Church of Christ and Unity Church of Christ in Washington. He loved horses, animals, woodworking, yard work, gardening, and was an avid reader, especially anything dealing with history.

    Survivors include his children: Mary Etta Wilson Waters of Washington and Fredrick Lewis Wilson and his wife Ana of Virginia Beach; former daughter-in-law: Dawn Wilson of Washington; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Fred was predeceased, along with his parents and wife: Betty Lou, by his sisters: Patsy, Ann "Punkin", and Sue; and a brother: Gerald Wilson.

    In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's Association, Eastern NC Chapter, 5171 Glenwood Avenue, Suite 101, Raleigh, NC 27612 or to Beaufort County Humane Society, P.O. Box 33, Washington, NC 27889.
