Retha Lee Smith Andrews | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Retha Lee Smith Andrews, age 90, a resident of Grimesland, NC went to her heavenly reward on Thursday October 16, 2025, while at her home.

    A remembrance and celebration of life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday October 18, 2025, at her home. A private burial has taken place at Pamlico Memorial Gardens in Washington.

    Mrs. Andrews was born in Pitt County on January 7, 1935, daughter of the late Samuel Luther Smith and the late Lissie McLawhorn Smith. She was a graduate of Grimesland High School. On December 15, 1953, she married Edward Carlton Andrews who survives. She worked as an inspector at Sampson Industries in Washington and later worked at Hancock Fabrics in Greenville. First and foremost, she was a devout Christian. Her greatest love was her Lord and Savior followed by her family that she also dearly loved. Mrs. Andrews also enjoyed sewing and growing flowers. She worshipped at Black Jack Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir when her health allowed.

    Survivors include her husband Edward of the home; a granddaughter: Deanna Pryor of Williamston; a great granddaughter: Emalee Pryor of Grimesland; a sister-in-law: Janice Smith of Grimesland; a special niece: Diane Hodges and her husband Curtis of Grimesland; and a former grandson-in-law: Stephen Pryor of Grimesland.
