"Ministry of Truth" to be called "Democracy Shield"

ENCNow

In his dystopian novel "1984", George Orwell called it the "Ministry of Truth".  Today's European Union bureaucracy calls it "Democracy Shield."  The concept is the same.  The government decides what is "true" and thus what can be communicated to others.  The Eurocrats are setting themselves up to function like Big Brother in Orwell's novel.  Maybe the EU should now be called the Fourth Reich or the EUSSR.  It fits right in with Orwell's description of "Newspeak" where words mean the opposite of what they have always meant to describe this totalitarian plan as a "democracy shield."

Under this dystopian EU plan, the Eurocrats will dictate what content can be allowed on the internet, and will presumably try to place large fines on American tech companies to force them to comply.  One hopes that the Trump administration will slam the EU with heavy sanctions to stop this nonsense.  More to the point, European counties which value freedom need to follow the example of Brexit and get out while the getting is good.

The UN's recently announced censorship campaign to dictate what can and cannot be said about climate issues may be an early area where this authoritarian jackboot is first felt.  It is an all out assault on free speech and the UN is no friend of free speech.

The EU already holds too many censorship powers under the Digital Services Act, which they use against conservatives.  One victim recently won a reprieve:

Free speech is already in danger in Europe under many national laws.  In some countries, citizens can be arrested and jailed for criticizing politicians.  In Germany, this year, a pensioner was arrested for calling the inept Finance Minister an "idiot".  In France, a young woman was arrested for calling President Macron "a piece of filth" in an internet post.  Finnish prosecutors are at their Supreme Court right now attempting to convict a member of parliament for "hate speech" and "war crimes" for posting a Bible verse online.

President Trump has recently said he is considering offering political asylum to those charged with "thought crimes" in the UK, and perhaps elsewhere in Europe.

The US is lucky that we ditched the Biden regime as this is the direction he wanted to take our country.
