    Mrs. Ardieth Flowers Lewis, age 100, a resident of 569 Old Bath Highway, Washington, NC died Sunday, October 20, 2013 at her home.

    A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church officiated by Pastor James Green. Burial will follow at Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Shane Lewis, Brian Foxwell, Jay Mombaerts, Rex Zerby, Earl Rascoe and Bobby Furman will serve as pallbearers.

    Mrs. Lewis was born on November 5, 1912 in Beaufort County to the late Andrew Flowers and Martha Ann Clark Flowers. She attended Aurora High School. On July 23, 1929, she married the late Charlie Thomas Lewis, who preceded her in death on November 19, 1969. Mrs. Lewis worked as an accounting clerk at Sears & Roebuck in Norfolk, Va. She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile and The Order of Amaranth, which are both Masonic organizations. Mrs. Lewis was a member of Bayview Free Will Baptist Church in Norfolk, Va.

    Mrs. Lewis is survived by a son, Larry B. Lewis and wife Brenda of Washington, NC, a daughter in law: Wilma Lewis of Thornhill, TN; 6 grandchildren, Vickie Jones, Toni Lewis, Brian Lewis Foxwell, Donna Zerby, Shane Lewis and Carmela Mombaerts, six great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

    In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Lewis is preceded in death by a son, Kenneth W. Lewis, two brothers, Forrest Flowers and Kate Flowers and two sisters, Gentry Caroon and Mabel Toler.

    The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 24, 2013 one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m., at the church and other times at the home.

    Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Fla. 33607.
