Ilhan Omar tried to use Congressional earmark for Somali fraud, gets caught | Eastern NC Now

Congressional earmarks have always been tied to sleaze, but one from Ilhan Omar crosses the line into actual fraud.  Fortunately, sharp eyed Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) caught it in the Senate and stripped it from the bill.

Ilhan Omar had earmarked in a Congressional spending bill  a million dollars for a "substance abuse clinic" operated by fellow Somalis.  Sen. Ernst's investigation found that instead of a substance abuse clinic at the address, it was actually a restaurant.  The three people on the paperwork for the "clinic" all lived at the same address.

The real question now is what action will be taken against Ilhan Omar for trying to perpetrate another Somali fraud using a congressional earmark.  Denaturalization and deportation comes to mind.
