The Beaufort County Board of County Commissioners Will Meet to Discuss the County's Business
The Government of Beaufort County meets every month for at least one general meeting to discuss and act on the county's business. Beaufort County employs the county manager form of government which stipulates that the board of county commissioners allow the county manager to set the agenda, and bring issues before them.
The Beaufort County Board of County Commissioners will meet to discuss a variety of issues in their general meeting on Monday, November 4, 2013. This is the fifth general meeting post-budget, when the Beaufort County Commissioners, by a vote of 4 to 3 elected to enact no meaningful cuts to the budget and shall, in time, borrow even deeper from the county's fund balance.
This general meeting brings us ever closer to the possible inevitable conclusion that the "Gang of 4" (Commissioners: Al Klemm, Jerry Langley, Ed Booth and Robert Belcher) are moving closer to moving the proposed jail outside of the city limits of Beaufort County's seat of government, Washington, NC, to Chocowinity, NC. To that extent,
I am presenting a resolution that would commit the commissioners to the resolution process, which would at least give the public some part in the decision making process of a public capital project that could cost upwards of 20 million dollars.
