LaDonna Davenport Younger | Eastern NC Now

    LaDonna Davenport Younger, age 88, of Bath, NC passed away on January 22, 2026, at Hospice House in Greenville, NC. LaDonna was born to Charlie Wesley Davenport and Lillian Calis Woolard of Bath, NC. LaDonna grew up in Bath, NC and attended Bath High School and was a cheerleader. She also attended East Carolina College School of Business. LaDonna worked with the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS), a division of the USDA. Concurrently she worked with her husband at Floyd R. Sutton Building Contractors. LaDonna was also a member of the Historic Bath Garden Club and the Historic Bath Book Club. She also was a member of First Christian Church of Bath.

    She is survived by her son, Floyd R. Sutton, Jr. and husband M. Douglas Grizzard of Chocowinity, NC. Also, by her cousin and caregiver Vida Cutler of Bath, NC.

    She is preceded in death by 2 sisters, Edna Robbins, Wanda Taylor and 2 brothers, Charles Davenport and Alton Davenport. As well as husbands Floyd R. Sutton Sr. and Tommy Younger.

    A memorial service will be officiated by Pastor Harry Smith and will be held on Thursday, January 29th, 2026, at 11:00am located at Bath Christian Church, 105 Harding Street, Bath, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
