    Mr. Robert Page "Fred" Ayers, Sr., age 79, a resident of Roanoke River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Williamston died Thursday October 31, 2013.

    A graveside funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday November 4, 2013 at the Harris Cemetery in the Terra Ceia Community of Pantego. The service will be officiated by Rev. Tony Parrish. Pallbearers will be Chris Holifield, James Holifield, Buddy Ayers, Michael Wayne Ayers, Eric Cross and Melburn Ray Radcliff, Jr. Curtis Ayers and Keith Sparrow will service as honorary pallbearers.

    The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday at Free Union Free Will Baptist Church and other times at the home of his daughter, Betty Radcliff, located at 5711 Free Union Church Road, Pinetown. Following the visitation the family and friends will go in procession to the cemetery.

    Mr. Fred was born in Beaufort County on November 8, 1923 son of the late John Allen Ayers and the late Lashand Kelly Ayers. He attended Pantego School and married the former Flora Ann Bullock on August 24, 1954 who survives. Mr. Fred was a farmer and worked at many dairy farms in the area. He was a member of Belhaven Pentecostal Holiness Church and had attended Free Union Free Will Baptist Church.

    Surviving along with his wife Ann of Williamston are a daughter: Betty Radcliff and husband Melburn of Pinetown; a son: Bobby Ayers and wife Susan of Washington; two daughters-in-law: Michelle Ayers of NJ and Karen Ayers of Washington; a sister: Maggie White of Greenville; eleven grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren. Mr. Fred was predeceased by three sons: Robert Ayers, Jr., Eddie Ayers and Johnny Ayers and a grandson: Johnny Ayers, Jr.

    In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be made to the Robert Ayers, Sr. Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 1465, Washington, NC 27889.
