Sylvia was born on January 2nd, 1944, and was a lifelong resident of Beaufort County. She graduated from Washington High School in 1962. Sylvia worked in the medical field her entire life. She worked at Beaufort County Hospital doing medical transcription for Dr. Lori Moore, Pathologist. She worked for Dr. Charles Daniel Edwards, General Surgeon in Washington and lastly, she retired from Vidant Family Medicine Center after 34 years of dedication in medical transcription, collections, billing, insurance, and running the front desk.

Sylvia was a kind, loving, and caring person. She was a friend to everyone. She was an amazing Momma and the best "Nana" to her four granddaughters. She loved to go and watch her granddaughters play sports, dance, and cheer. She was very supportive in their lives. Sylvia was athletic most of her life, loving all sports. She played softball in her early years. Sylvia loved collecting. She collected sports cards and memorabilia, especially anything having to do with Michael Jordan. Sylvia collected Beanie Babies as well.

Sylvia is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Ione Miltenberger Warren and husband, Patrick and their children, Anna Catherine and Abigail Hope Toro (Jose) of Apex, NC and Sarah Jo Miltenberger Paszt and husband, EJ and their children, Elizabeth Grace and Olivia Claire of Washington, NC. Sylvia is also survived by her brother, Joe Taylor and wife May-I and their two children, Dr. Joseph Exum Taylor & family and Robert Stuart Taylor & family.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Exum Taylor and Edna Jackson Taylor. Also preceding her in death were her beloved Uncle Jack and Aunt Sally. Aunt Sally called Mom every week from Arizona to chat until she passed away at the age of 96 in 2024.

The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to Lois McLaughlin, her dearest friend. Lois would pick up Sylvia every week and meet their friends for breakfast. She would include Sylvia in Backpack Buddies at her church as well as invite her to deliver Meals on Wheels to local Washington residents. Lois also took Sylvia to all of her hair appointments and would take her to ride all over Washington. These gestures made Sylvia so happy.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Norlina Kelly, her caregiver, who took care of Sylvia for two years while she was living in Washington Park. Norlina loved Sylvia very much. She did so much for her and our family is truly grateful for her love and kindness.

In the last part of Sylvia's life, her cousin Lark and husband Ken Jenkins helped to keep Sylvia safe and comfortable in the Memory Care Cottage of Spring Arbor in Apex. This is what family is all about and we are so grateful for both of them.

Finally, to the entire Spring Arbor of Apex staff and to Transitions LifeCare, we are so thankful and blessed to have had such loving, caring and compassionate people taking care of Sylvia. Your kindness and care will never ever be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sylvia's memory may be made to the Dementia Alliance of North Carolina, 9131 Anson Way Suite 206, Raleigh, NC 27615.

Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington is honored to serve the Miltenberger family.
