    Mr. Dallas Cerr Congleton, age 72, a resident of 210 Water St., Washington, died Sunday November 10, 2013, following a courageous battle with lymphoma.

    A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington conducted by Rev. Jay Martin and Dr. William Lee Kinney. A reception will follow the service at the funeral home.

    Mr. Congleton was born in Beaufort County on May 22, 1941 to the late Heber and Eula Boyd Congleton. On June 19, 1966 he married Adelia "Dee" Justine Smith who survives. He was a graduate of Washington High School, served in the United States Air Force and was a retired supervisor for PCS Phosphate in Aurora. He served on the electrical committee for the City of Washington, was an active member of the Washington Historic Foundation and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Washington. He and his wife Dee traveled throughout Europe and Asia as well as traveled annually to Hershey, Pennsylvania for car club meets, enjoying very much the Amish country and cuisine. His passion for car restoration was proven by the many awards he received for his Austin Healey and M.G. and he was always available to help his car buddies with their cars.

    Survivors include his wife, Adelia "Dee" Congleton of the home, brother, Tony Congleton and wife Vicki of Washington, nephew, Jarad Congleton of Washington, niece, Toni Leigh Brown of Raleigh, brother, Larry Congleton of Hampstead, two brothers-in-law, John Smith of New Bern, A.T. Smith of Salisbury, niece, Shannon Taylor and husband Steve of Concord, sister-in-law, Mary Chadwick and husband William, II, nephew, William Chadwick, III all of Jacksonville, friends, Dick Roy, Ed Stone, Herman Gaskins, Charles Bowen, Joe Taylor, Grover Bailey, Charles Phillips and all his M.G. car buddies.

    The family would like to thank Dr. Heather White of Physicians East, Vidant Home Health and Hospice and caretaker and friend, T.J. Blount.
