Guilford County Dogs Available for Adoption at Governor's Mansion | Eastern NC Now

Governor Pat McCrory and First Lady Ann McCrory will welcome nine dogs from Guilford County Shelter on Saturday at the Governor’s Mansion for the Dog Adoption and Humane Awards. The event will take place from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

    Raleigh, NC  -  Governor Pat McCrory and First Lady Ann McCrory will welcome nine dogs from Guilford County Shelter on Saturday at the Governor's Mansion for the Dog Adoption and Humane Awards. The event will take place from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

    "Help brighten the holidays with a new addition to your family," said First Lady Ann McCrory. "Please help by bringing home a new dog or just coming out to show your support."

    Dogs attending from Guilford County shelter include Vulpix, Lya, Sam, Fred, Muffin, Jasper, Patty, Joe, and Rascal, several were rescued from the Pender County puppy mill bust last month. They are pictured below.

    Also at the event, First Lady Ann McCrory, Representative Jason Saine and Senator Neal Hunt will continue to urge legislators to take action on House Bill 930, bipartisan legislation that establishes basic standards of care for large commercial dog breeding facilities and helps ensure that all dogs are treated humanely.

    "I applaud the first lady on continuing to work on these important issues," said Representative Saine. "It's nice to think about what joy our pets can bring to us year in and year out."

    Senator Hunt and his family have adopted rescued animals. "We've got two rescues and we love them! Come to the Governor's Mansion and find one for yourself."

    The Wake County SPCA and Humane Society of Charlotte are also participating in Saturday's adoption event. As many as 30 dogs will be available for a loving family.
