Gene Ray Cullipher | Eastern NC Now

    Gene Ray Cullipher, age 78 a resident of Washington, died Monday, May 4, 2026, at River Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation.

    A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Alligood Church of God with Rev. Gary Bateman officiating. Burial will follow in the Woolard Family Cemetery.

    The family will receive friends Thursday evening, May 7, 2026, at Alligood Church of God from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

    Gene was born on September 14, 1947, in Bertie County to the late Charlie Herman Cullipher and Goldie Morris Cullipher. He attended school in Bertie County. On May 20, 1977, he married Annie Ruth Woolard. Gene was a long-haul truck driver retiring in 2018. He was an avid sports fan, especially loving the New York Yankees and the Washington Red Skins, he also loved to hunt and fish and loved to bowl. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Charlie Cullipher, sister Joyce Bracy, niece Pam Hughes, and nephew Charles Cullipher.

    Survivors include his wife, Annie Ruth Woolard Cullipher of the home, his children, Ellis Ray Cullipher (Ashley) of Bath and Jonathan Cullipher of Surfside Beach, SC, sister-in-law, Bettie Sue Cullipher of Colerain, grandchildren, Cole and Caden Cullipher, many nieces, and nephews.
