Dooley trails conservative Congreemand Collins in GOP primary runoff

ENCNow

The trailing candidate in Georgia's Republican US Senate primary runoff, has come out for amnesty for illegal aliens.  Derek Dooley, a college football coach backed by outgoing Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, is challenging frontrunner Mike Collins, a conservative congressman backed by the Senate Conservatives Fund.

In a TV interview, Dooley said he was "very sensitive to both sides" of the illegal immigration debate, and said the illegal aliens "probably should have some penalty because they came here the wrong way."  He then suggested that government should debate whether that "penalty" should be a fine or community service.

The frontrunner in the primary runoff, Congressman Collins, on the other hand, is a strong supporter of enforcing out immigration laws.  Collins was the sponsor of the Laken Riley Act that cracked down on criminal illegal aliens.

Collins was top voegetter  in the first round of the primary, and leads in the polls for the runoff between 5 and 17 points, depending on the poll.  Of course, that was vefore Dooley's admission that he is an amnesty sellout.
