conservative state AG Ken Paxton smokes RINO US Senate incumbent Cornyn in Texas | Eastern NC Now

Texas Republican primary voters have removed four term RINO incumbent US Senator John Cornyn, a longtime Mitch McConnell lieutenant, as their US Senate nominee in a landslide and handed the nomination instead to hard charging staunch conservative state Attorney General Ken Paxton.  Paxton won by a margin of 63% to 36%.  Cornyn had a long history as a weak sister on issues like taxes, spending, immigration, and gun rights.

Cornyn is the second major RINO Senate incumbent to be kicked to the curb this election season by primary voters by a wide margin.  Louisiana RINO Senator Bill Cassidy, after two lackluster terms ran third in his primary and failed to even make the runoff.

All eyes are now on South Carolina, where longtime RINO Senator Lindsay Graham is facing conservative businessman Mark Lynch.

In the primary to succeed Paxton as Texas Attorney General, Mayes Middleton, who had been one of the Texas Senate's most conservative members when he served there, defeated conservative Congressman Chip Roy.  Both shared Paxton's principles.
