part of Spanberger gun law smacked down by Virginia judge | Eastern NC Now

One part of radical left Virginia governor Spanberge's gun control law has been quickly deal with and smacked down by a Virginia judge.  That part of the gun control law involved an attempt to do an end run around a previous court ruling and the judge is having no part of that.  Multiple lawsuits are pending on other aspects of the bill and one has been announced by the US Justice Department against it as well.

What Spanberger tried to get around was a previous court order outlawing personal background checks as violations of the state Constitution.  In her gun control law, Spanberger purported to overrulle the judge involved by statute.  Her Democrat attorney geneal said she could do that and her state police leadership said they would implement it.  Then the Gun Owners of America put out ads saying law enforcement doing so could be held in contempt of court.

Now the judge hwo entered the first order has entered a new one making it clear that his original order remained in full force and effect in spite of Spanberger's attempt at an end run.  The Virginia State Police have now decided they are better off following the judge than following the governor and have announced that they will not now be following Spanberger's gun congtrol law as to the background checks.
