ENCNow
Jacqueline Dixon was born January 17, 1952, in Chocowinity, North Carolina, to the late Ivie "Jack" Dixon, Sr. and Olga Mae Dixon.

Jackie, as she was affectionately known, attended Chocowinity Elementary School in Chocowinity, North Carolina, and Washington High School in Washington, North Carolina. Upon graduation, she attended Strayer University and DC Teacher's College in Washington, D.C., where she studied early childhood education.

Jackie gave her life to Christ at an early age and enjoyed serving in ministry, singing, praying and praising God. She was a faithful member of Beebe Chapel CME Church, where she served as a mother, steward and president of a choir. Jackie began her teaching career at Rehoboth Day Care in Washington, D.C., and later moved back home where she taught at Mother of Mercy Day Care for over 10 years. Jackie left Mother of Mercy Day Care and began teaching in the Beaufort County school system at Eastern Elementary School for the last 22 years. She served there until August 2013 until her illness prevented her from working.

Jackie was highly respected and loved by co-workers, friends, neighbors, parents, students and all who knew her. She was a generous, easy-to-talk-to, spirit-filled woman of God ... the true definition of a virtuous woman. She will be sorely missed.

Jackie leaves to cherish fond memories two children, Darrell Dixon (Letitia Dixon) of Powder Springs, Ga., Kenia Driver of Washington, N.C.; three grandchildren, Darrell Dixon Jr., Darius Dixon and Journey Massey; three sisters, Laura Riddick (Charlie Riddick) of Pantego, N.C., Barbara Draughn of Clinton, Md.; Ida Gaskins-Wright (Foster Wright) of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, Ivie Dixon Jr. (Yolanda Johnson) of Clinton, Md., and Archie Dixon (Andrea Gordon) of Washington, D.C.; one aunt, Sara Dixon Moore of Chocowinity; one great aunt, Hattie Peed of Washington, North Carolina; three sisters-in law, Olivia Dixon of Waldorf, Md., Ora Dixon of Jacksonville, Fla., and Margretta Dixon of Upper Marlboro, Md.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and a very special and devoted companion, whom she loved dearly, Freeman Spencer of Terra Ceia, North Carolina.

Jackie was preceded in death by three siblings, Joseph Dixon, William Dixon and Billy Ray Dixon.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Arrangements are by Whitfield & Whitley Funeral Home, Washington.
