Connie Frances Windley Matthews | Eastern NC Now

    Connie Frances Windley Matthews, age 79, a resident of Greenville, died Saturday, July 11, 2026, at her home.

    A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington with Rev. John Windley officiating. Burial will follow in the Harrison Cemetery.

    The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:30 PM at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.

    Connie was born on January 3, 1947, in Beaufort County to the late Mark Windley and Ida Sykes Windley. She was a graduate of Bath High School and attended UNC Chapel Hill for dental assistant. Connie worked for several dentists during her career. On June 24, 1966, she married Teddy Lane Matthews, who preceded her in death on April 21, 2015. She enjoyed playing the piano, doing crossword puzzles and listening to music. She also loved spending time with her family and loved her dogs. Connie was a member of Pleasant Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by her brother David Windley.

    Survivors include her brothers, John Windley (Joann), and Thomas Windley (Kim) all of Pinetown, nephews, Ben Windley (Christa), and John Thomas Windley, many other nieces and nephews whom she loved.

    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to; Pleasant Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church, 8539 NC Hwy 43, Grimesland, NC 27837.
