Donald Ray Harrell | Eastern NC Now

    Donald Ray Harrell, age 76 a resident of Williamston, died Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at his home.

    Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Rose of Sharon FWB Church, with Caleb Hines and Bill Gross officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Tim Moore, Ryan Jones, Kyle Ivey, Jake Whitley, Yarnell McClain and Josh Ward will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Tony Taylor, Mike Roberson, Tommy White, Bobby Leggett, Keith Manning, Wayne Manning, Allen Moore, and Irvin Mizelle.

    The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM at the church prior to the service, and other times at the home.

    Donald was born September 18, 1949, in Martin County, to the late Fate Jackson Harrell and Beulah Mae Silverthorne Harrell. He was a 1969 graduate of Williamston High School. On June 13, 1970, he married Jane Bowen. Donald retired in 2016 as a service technician for Ferrell Gas. He loved doing yard work, fishing, tinkering in his shop, he loved going to church, playing harmonica, talking, and eating, he also loved blue grass music. Donald was a member of Rose of Sharon FWB Church where he served as Deacon.

    Survivors include his wife, Jane Bowen Harrell of the home, daughter, Karen Donnette Harrell Whitfield (Jason) of Robersonville, stepbrother, Tony Garrett, Sr. (Faith) of Kill Devil Hill, grandsons, Nicholas James Whitfield of Williamston, and Jakub Coke Whitfield of Robersonville.
