Congressman Chuck Edwards, a Republican representing North Carolina's far western 11th district has ended his reelection bid after the House Ethics Committee found he had given inappropriate attention to young female staffers, although not including any sexual activity, and recommended Congress censure him.  Edwards was facing a competitive race in November.

The Republican Executive Committee of the 11th Congressional District will now choose a replacement nominee to run for the seat in November.

Edwards was an ally of Thom Tillis.  Tillis has orchestrated his original primary challenge to his conservative Republican predecessor.
