radical teachers unions NEA and AFT push to embed DEI in AI models used in public schools | Eastern NC Now

NC teachers union NCAE is an affiliate of NEA

ENCNow

America's two radical teachers, the National Education Association (NEA) and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) are pushing state education agencies to inject DEI (officially "Diverstiy, Equity, Inclustion" but more often regarded as "Discrimination, Exclusion, Indoctrination") in the AI models used in teaching in public schools.  North Carolina's teachers union, the NCAE, is an affiliate of the NEA.

DEI is a program that preaches inherited racial guilt such as "white privelege".  It is banned by statute in NC education.  That law had to be passed over the vero of leftwing Governor Josh Stein.  The federal Department of Education has also issued rules prohbiting use of DEI for schools getting federal money.

By embedding DEI into AI programs, these teachers unions are trying to do an end run around our elected officials in order to promote this racist and Marxist DEI agenda.

In North Carolina, the hard left has control of the education machinery at the state level.  The state board of education is stacked with liberal to far left appointees of liberal governors Cooper and Stein.  They have already rammed through a very "woke" state social studies curriculum for students.  The leftwing Democrat recently elected as state Superintendent of Public Instruction, Mo Green, previously served as head of a radical foundation that funded a long list of far left political causes in our state.  An article on the organization during Green's tenure called it the "Roots of Radicalism".  The upshot is that in North Carolina, our Raleigh education establishment is likely to be very open to this move by the teachers unions.

On the bright side, legislation is working its way through the General Assembly to change the state Board of Education from an appointed body to a body elected by the voters of North Carolina by district.   That will give citizens instead of political appointees control of eduction in our state.
