US Court of Appeals upholds state law banning teaching of DEI in schools, removes dist. judge | Eastern NC Now

overturns wacky federal district judge who used AI in his order, disqualifies that judge

ENCNow

The United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit has spanked a rogue district judge and upheld the right of states to ban DEI in education.  DEI is a Marxist and racist concept often pushed by Democrats.  Conservatives say DEI stands for "Discrimination, Exclusion, Indoctrination."

The law in question, Mississippi HB 1193 bans schools and colleges from promoting DEI through classes and from punishing students for their views on DEI.  It was struck down last year by a rogue district judge, whose preliminary injunction has been now dissolved by the Appeals Court.  The appeals court also took the unusual step of ordering the case assigned to a different judge when it was sent back to the district court.  The appeals court noted that the district judge had apparently used AI to draw his order and it cited cases that did not exist while ignoring relevant SCOTUS cases that did exist.

The law had been challenged by teachers unions who wanted to politically indoctrinate students on DEI.

Doane was 1st super to be promoted from w/in since when? Can't recall a super not being brought from outside!! that was purposeful and useful to those on the Bd with an agenda.

Cornelius and Davis (if elected) fill that agenda-driven person(s).

RH: It has been my venerable experience for some decades now that the greatest politics in all of entities - governmental and otherwise - are 'politics in the school system.'

I've enjoyed working with Steve Rader on the School Board. We will miss his ability, experience and his dedication to principled accountability.

When Jennifer Cornelius and Monica Davis say they are against "politics" in the school system, they mean they oppose the eastern North Carolina values of Beaufort County citizens/ They do not comprehend or admit that the leftwing ideology of the teachers unions of which both have been members constitutes "politics" in an even bigger way. So does the political dogma injected into state curriculum standards by liberal Democrat governors' liberal appointees to the state board of education.

Our school board going forward will not be conservative. We already see the loss of Shreve in his replacement with liberal Walker-aligned Cornelius. We will lose another conservative seat in December when Walker-sponsored liberal Davis is sworn in.

Someone suggested Walker would try to make herself chairman again, but that might not be the case. She seems perfectly happy with the power without the title. Right now, she has a puppet in T.W. Allen doing her bidding as chairman. She may want to continue with a figurehead puppet like that. Walker will have absolute control over 4 votes on the board. Hudson, who talked conservative when he ran, but has gotten more and more under Walker's thumb, will likely be the decisive fifth vote. She also seems to be able to often pull Williams her way.

What we are likely to see is a liberal nominally "Republican" clique controlling the board. Then they want to reinvent liberal Democrat hack Mack Hodges as an instant "Republican" to try to take out another conservative seat in 2028.

We have a very sad situation on our school board, and it all revolves around Boss Walker.

Banning DEI in Beaufort County Schools is one of the accomplishments of the conservative members of the county school board. How long that will last with the change of the board will remain to be seen, but parents need to stay alert. We do have DEI embedded in the Bridges math curriculum. however. When the math curriculum comes up again, that needs to be changed.

With four solid conservatives on a nine member board, with a couple of swing votes, there was a lot we could accomplish. With only two solid conservatives remaining, that will get a lot more difficult. I have been pleased to work with conservatives Don Shreve, Charles Hickman, and Stacey Davis. There were also a couple of others who one could at least talk to, and that helped the chemistry of the board.
