Still answering a comment by a professed constituent in that other local publication:
It is What it is Big Bob Saying that everything is alright, when it clearly is not, does not make it so. I am a realist; I know what I am doing; and I know what constitutes a Swamp Creature as well as anyone. Also, I endeavor to use accurate descriptors whenever possible. By the way, since you seem not to have this same level of knowledge, I shall continue: Hardened Liberals /Socialists and Swamp Creatures, on issues important to their special interest base, will never bend to another's better will /their better angels of prudent governing just because they perceive that more knowledgeable, stronger willed, and far more honest individual as a more affable guy. They only bend to that better will when they are politically forced to. To think otherwise is to be blind to the historical machinations of governing in Beaufort County since 1992. Obviously, I'm not that guy.

Answering a comment by a professed constituent in that other local publication:
I am a Republican because of Ronald Reagan. I did not care for politics, but Ronald Reagan inspired me to try to make a difference, and do it as much like he did it, irrespective of my limiting capabilities (he was the master communicator with a pure heart for his avocation). I tend to think of myself far more as a Conservative than a Republican, and am sad that the Republican party (especially here in Beaufort County) has a very tarnished brand since the party has trouble standing for the virtuous Conservatism that was the hallmark of Ronald Reagan, and every other succeeding Republican that tried to emulate him. In closing: I'm glad to know that you are my constituent, and I intend to fight the Swamp Creatures, here locally, and far away only because folks like you expect me to.

Commented on George H.W. Bush - A Wimp?Bush 41 may not have been a hardened Conservative, but he was a hard core patriot, and all man. Torpedo bombers were not known to have a long life expectancy (see battle of Midway), when 41 signed to serve and fly in the Pacific Theater.
He was a good, brave man, and we are fortunate to have had his service to our nation in the military and our government.

This post was picked up by another local publication, and there were many comments, where I did answer one from a commenting individual, whose was concerned that I act in a civil manner, where I did answer this:
Thanks Big Bob, I'll Try to Civil ... There was that time, however, when the Liberal Majority thought it wise to allocate 2 million dollars of tax payer money to build the Southwest County Jail with no advance funding in place. Kind of like buying a house, with no real financing or cash, except that 10% option money that one will never get back, but, you put that "other people's money" down anyway. That instance, I did state openly with the cameras rolling, that my fellow commissioners were "the stupidest board of county commissioners that I had ever served with and I have served with many". If I remember correctly, that was a Republican majority trying to govern Beaufort County as well. Also, if memory serves me correctly, this was the same board that conspicuously stood idle against the strenuously advocating advice of The Hood and myself to save the people's hospital from giving their hospital to Vidant for 9 million dollars, so Vidant could enjoy their current monopoly, when we had a 30 million dollar lease on the table to Community Health Systems, where Beaufort County would keep their then 60,000,000.00 hospital plant and the 30 million dollars. This would have never happened if we had anything close to a Conservative Majority. Bad government does not exist without the foolish enterprise of poor representatives elected by those that really want or need them there. I wouldn't called them "stupid", but, one could easily make the argument, by the definition of Representative Government, that these voters were heavily on the foolish side in these instances. These two terrible examples constituted tens of millions of lost wealth of the tax paying citizens of Beaufort County.

I have not thought about Dave Mason in a long time. And, I had forgotten that he did that song.
I saw Dave Mason in concert as a warm-up guest for Kenny Loggins at Elon College in 1970 something. I was with my wife; then we drove to the Blue Ridge Mountains and camped out for a few nights. I think it was mid to late Autumn and very cold at 4700 feet above sea level. It was fun, an adventure. Youth, huh?

Commented on Cool Papa Stan & the Exocet MissileThank-you Jerry for your vivid metaphor of the Falklands War, and your British Naval History analogy gives me great pause to thank my Republican opponent Tandy Dunn for a race well run:
Thanks Tandy for your rapid congratulations, but, moreover, thanks for being a solid Conservative that I well knew I would have been able to depend on when the crunch of governing takes center stage. It was a Democrat night in Beaufort County for the commissioner's race, where popularity, Liberal ideals and special interests were paramount in the selection of our representatives. Randy Walker may have said it best: 'As I talk to people in Beaufort County, I don't see people concerned about their taxes going up. I think everyone would like to pay no taxes, but people know that taxes have to go up to provide all these services.' By quoting Randy, I am enunciating that it just has not gotten bad enough yet for Democrats; the upper class in Beaufort County, and, moreover, many people in Beaufort County who still do not pay enough attention to the real government story to understand the difference of how government, out of control, will usually snowball into a fiscal catastrophe. Tandy, you ran as a real Conservative, and you were true to that message, and that is most commendable in my burgeoning book. So, thank-you Tandy, and I wish you well in any future political endeavors that you should continue to explore.

Commented on Frankie Waters is Politically Tone-deafJust today, my wife heard Frankie Waters's radio ad, a treatise of bold explanation, where he pleaded that he was indeed a "True Conservative", and should be taken seriously as such, even though that he found it wise to wastefully spend plenty of your tax dollars on his pet projects. You see, Frankie faced some really tough decisions in governing Beaufort County, and was forced to: conduct business in secret meetings; shutdown and shutout real Conservative Hood Richardson in the bargain; borrow multiple millions of dollars for the sake of more 'wise spending', while raising taxes at record levels for the good of the county and its people.
With a "True Conservative" like Frankie, we can all sleep well at night here in Beaufort County, right? How much government can you afford? Just ask "True Conservative" Democrat Frankie Waters, and he surely has all the answers: 'You can afford 4 more years of this wasteful plenty'.

Commented on Candidate Forum: The Resource Officer Conundrum"Liberals Care More than You Do"
The School Resource Officer conundrum is just a perfect example of liberal politicians using an issue that is of extreme sensitivity, and then play at fixing the problem with as much money as is possible; then using that massive expenditure to show that they care far more for others than any pragmatic, far wiser Conservative ever could. This creates a greater group with a collective community sense of well-being that neither fixes the potential problem, but only masks the truth that these politicians are either too lazy, or just intellectually incapable to correctly identify the source of the problem, and more effectively address it. This is why these sorry Beaufort County Commissioners have listened to one wise word that Hood Richardson has uttered over the last four years.
