Speaking of the media...where does one go for local news?
I notice that WITN news is more like a re-run of the cable news, with a Democrat Party bent to it.

Yes, I do want to see the cat in the tree story when I watch the local tv station's news program. I think I will switch to WNCT.

No, no, no. The School Board does believe that the Superintendent and staff work for them. They believe that Cheeseman and his staff do all the working and thinking... so that they dont have to do any work or thinking.

Basically, I was told this years ago when a school board member said: "Look Washingtonian, we board members have jobs, and family, and a life, and that's why we have a staff to do this for us."

Sooo yeah, they think the employees do work for them. LOL
Easy life being on the School Board.

If Sandy Hardy was wise, he would remove himself from this cabal.
Maybe he didnt know the insider games being played, but now he does, and he wont enjoy the long term backlash.

From John Locke Org website.
Elections & Public Integrity.
*Close the “nonmajority loophole” in open meetings law*

North Carolina recognizes the importance of govt transparency with its open meetings law.
Some local govts try to skirt the open meetings law, including by splitting their meetings into two nonmajority meetings.
The General Assembly should close an apparent loophole in the open meetings law and put a transparency constitutional amendment up for a vote of the people.

Does anyone here know of an administrative attorney who is not afraid to challenge the City, County, State Govt for wrong doing?
Dp we have to go to Durham to employ one?
Does anyone want to join a class action lawsuit?

Governments, Bureaucracies, parents and many humans, operate under the theory:
"Most problems go away if you just wait long enough" ~ Dilbert quote.

Dont give up Gary. Become a pain in their a**.
Its the only way forward.

p.s. The Governor's Office has a HotLine too.

We The People dont have any rights. We just THINK we do.

Recall the DOJ, FBI, Mayorkas, etc... thumbing their noses at the U.S. Congress over the last few years.
Its all a shell game.

Yes Bubba...WHY dont they?

My reply to Commissioner Deatherage is that there is sometimes a thin line between a lie & an excuse. (Trump's motto: "Fight, Fight.")

I'm just saying that your excuses dont pass the smell test.
There is no "standing" when it comes to who can make a public records request.
The govt doesnt even request an I.D. much less a photo I.D.
So a person's request is practically anonymous, except that to get a digital reply, one needs an email address. A new email address is easy to get.
I just cant understand why a commissioner who says he is fighting for us, wont do whatever is necessary to simply make a public records request. And then if they dont get a reply, report it to tipline@ncauditor.net.

That is a very strange response Stan.

Stan, If it is a public record and I believe it is, then it cant be hidden.
Why havent you made an official written request to receive this public record on behalf of all the citizens?
Commented: Thursday, March 27th, 2025 @ 12:08 pm By: Washingtonian
WHY cant we see the Title search for those 4 ac. that they indicated had been done? Isnt it a public record?

Van Zant
Why not do a public records request for the things you have doubts about and see what washes up?
If you dont get a reply, report them to tipline@ncauditor.net
Commented: Thursday, March 20th, 2025 @ 3:26 pm By: Washingtonian
Hello Gary,
The last I heard from you, you had a made a formal request to the City of Washington for Housing Authority public records.
What became of that? Did you get the records? If not, why? Persistence is required when something is important.
Inquiring minds need to know.
Thank you.

John Valley, Report what you know about corruption to tipline@ncauditor.net Name names!

Make it easy on yourself, send them some of the things that you and others have written here.
If you call them, they will actually call you back.
Dont hesitate. I didnt. Let's make the sheer number of reports overwhelming.

I watch th Mar3 Commissioners meeting,& saw a Clown Show!
What an embarrassment Ed Booth is to th pple of this county. He completely slanders Hood right there n front of th world. He should resign n shame. His lack of integrity&judgment was n full view.

The 4 I refer to as Mr Opposites is bec they consistently vote nay to anything Hood purposes. Even simply a light to let them know when they are being recorded was too much 4 them. However w/out even a night to sleeping on it, they voted to pay $500,000 for 4ac. NOW THAT contrast is a perfect example of what is wrong w th 4 Mr. Opposites. They made fools of selves & now they just want to move on & hide their errors by not demanding a title search to resolve any festering doubts abt th dishonesty of that whole boondoggle.
I feel bad 4 Hood&Stan saying this, but I think we need term limits.
All BAD BAD stuff going on here in BeaufortCounty&Washington Govt, however Stan made an inspiring speech during the Comments section. Part 1 of 2.

Continued Part 2 of 2.
All Bad BAD BAD stuff going on here in Beaufort County & Washington City Govt., however Stan made a speech immediately after the call for Commissioner comments that I found inspiring. Good job Stan.
Sooo since lawyers are worthless, how do the citizens force justice on the unethical? HOw do WeThePpl find a entity in Federal or State Govt that will bring a hammer down on those cheating us of the right to have a Govt OF the Ppl?
Or as I often say, we have NO rights, we only think we do. Get crosswise to any Govt body or its agencies and you will quickly find out.

I grew up in Washington, and I find it hard to believe that the people here today accept failing schools, and failing students.

I'm wondering why the community's business leaders arent gathering at the gates of Superintendent Cheeseman to run him out of town on a rail.
Afterall businesses need an educated population to grow a healthy economy. Soooo I must say community leaders have failed us too. The rot is rampant throughout society, both high and low.

Trump signed an EO outlawing DEI in public schools.
The Dept of Education now has a portal for reporting discrimination. DEI encourages a different kind of discrimination.

The portal website is at: enddei.ed.gov

Complaining at the local level is not going to change anything.
Use it!

Why r ppl the way they are?
For some, chaos is th goal.
Many politicians r lazy & let their staff do their thinking 4 them.
Their staff may b th types that support chaos or r just part of th pay-to-play game. The loudest of activist r hired & want a national collapse.
Jan.1, 2000, we feared all computers failing, one woman sd she wanted collapse bec her debts would b erased. She didnt stop to think that she would hav worse problems than debt, if th world collapsed.
Governing has become too big & complicated for most humans to excel at. They r either incompetent or too lazy to give it th time/energy needed.AS u saw under Biden, Govts kinda runs itself.

why do corrupt ppl support each other. Because they see each other at Church, soirees, or Insider Clubs & then 'wannabe' accepted into th club. They will sell their souls, not for $$ but for th opportunity to rub elbows w an "insider" ...EVEN n a small-town. LOL Its a human thing. Dont blame yourself, just try 2 build stronger character

A long time ago, maybe even a decade, I saw either DOT or City of Washington workers out near the highway by my land. (I have forgotten which). I had a question, so I went out to one and started speaking. He told me he didnt speak English. Was this person an illegal working for our Govt? He obviously hadnt been here long enough to learn any English.

I have been told by an illegal that when stopped by police for driving without a license... they let him go w/out even a ticket. A lot of "oversight" is needed.

JFK Jr said:
"My father told me when I was a little boy that people in authority lie and the job in a democracy is to remain skeptical. I've been science-based since I was a kid. Show me the evidence and I'll believe you, but I'm not going to take the word of official narratives."

"The way you do research is not by asking authoritative figures what they think. Trusting experts is not a feature of science, and it's not a feature of democracy. It's a feature of religion and totalitarianism."

Yep! people in authority lie! Never forget it!
A half-truth is also a lie!

Its just 10:00 a.m. and already 9 posted comments from Bozo Bob.
That's the name we give to clowns. Reading all this is wasted time.

Has the Title search been released yet?
What about Gary Ceres request for Housing records ... a year ago?

By the way, on the Belhaven water issue, I want to tell you there is an EPA online link to a hotline for reporting fraud, or just negligence within a dept. We should use it.

P.S. Trump is a modern day George Washington. Hurrah for MAGA & MAHA.

Its been many years since my child spent 2 yrs at BCCC preparing for a 4 yr college. But the difference in quality of education was dramatic compared to what my child was getting at the local grade schools.

I remember the BCCC English teacher grading the papers, making some suggestions and then allowing the student to rewrite it for a better grade. All of this made more work for the teacher, but was appreciated very much by me as a parent. I thank BCCC for the fact that today he has a Ph.D

By the way, back then a 16yr old could enroll in BCCC without a highschool diploma. Is it the same now? Try it, you'll like it.

Locally, our city and county govts are run with a Mafia style heavy hand.
"It would be a pity if you lost your job & then your kids werent able to attend that elite private school." The intended message is heard.

IN the City of Washington, the City Manager does all the hiring and firing...and likely knows where all the bodies are buried within the Council. Its pay to play. Paying with your personal honor is the price. Even the "good" people look the other way.

Hey Bob, Dems are the Party of the "Blind leading the Blind."

... or as Reagan said: "They know so much, that just isnt so."

Remember Rep Johnson believed an island could tip over, if overloaded.

Or the Dem (abt 20 yrs ago) who said: "Just where do they plan to build this information highway."

Can someone tell me how I could research how wealthy our local Govt officials and employees have become while working with the City and County?

W.S.
The NCDEQ is like th rest of Govt... Inefficient & negligent.
The NCDEQ local employees want to "go-along to get-along" w the local small town Govt's Bosses.
They do this because they LIVE here & R subject to th same needs of th rest of us 2B accepted...especially by those who R powerful, & could get them fired. They dont want even a small town Govt complaining loudly about them.
The NCDEQ in Raleigh R just paper pushers who put their pronouns in their signature lines, & work to COVER for any actions of the local NCDEQ employees.

If we want to make things right in NC, we have to do more than just Talk abt it here.

Regarding Schools? Isnt the titlesearch a matter of public records that anyone has a right to request & view. Perhaps it has to be in writing.
My question is how did 9 acs owned by WashingtonCitySchool s end up owned by th RedevelopmentCommiss ion of Washington. When th change was made to BeaufortCo SchoolSystem shouldnt school-owned-land,been automatically handed over?

Regarding Van Zant's comments on local govt: "business as usual."

Local Govt's motto should be: "Ask me know questions and I'll tell you no lies."

Recently overheard:
Politician: What would you like to hear today? I’ll tell you anything.
Me: How about the truth for a change.
Politician: Oh hell no! Anything but that.
Me: How does that song go... “tell me lies. Tell me sweet little lies."

Commented on A Question of Title

Stan wrote: ..." but for NOW, me personally collecting data will mean nothing to RINOs and Democratic Socialists,"

You miss the entire point Stan. You, collecting data and providing it to the public will do a great deal of good for the public's benefit.
They say daylight is a great disinfectant...but we need that daylight to know the truth, so we can organize to make changes...instead we just continue in the dark, and no one on the Board of Commissioners seems to want to make more than a minimal effort to provide any transparency... or to provide any tools/facts for us to digest, to cause the public to believe any of us have any chance of winning over this cabal in the county.
