Justine Midyette Bell | Eastern NC Now

    Justine Midyette Bell, age 77, a resident of Washington, died Monday, October 12, 2026, at River Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

    A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington, with Rev. Joseph Hall officiating.

    The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home.

    Justine was born on December 28, 1948, in Beaufort County to the late Kermit Oscar Midyette and Iona Weatherington Midyette. She was a 1967 graduate of Pantego High School. On October 15, 1968, she married Gene Dalton Bell, Sr. who preceded her in death in 1996. Justine retired in 2017 as a cook at Slatestone Grocery. She loved genealogy, cooking, and cross stitching. Justine was a member of Five Points Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Tommy and Roger Midyette and sisters, Mavis Paul and Mildred Midyette.

    Survivors include her children, Gene D. Bell, Jr. (Betsy) of Leland and Gina Bell of Ayden, brothers, James Midyette of Washington, Merlon Midyette (Becky) of Washington and Robert Midyette (Debbie) of Washington, sisters, Ola Alligood of Washington, Arlene Midyette of Washington and Gayle Griekspoor (Teddy) of Washington, grandchildren, Kacy Koch (Chris), D.J. Thompson, Jessica Bryant (Shawn), James Stalls (Autumn) and Caleb Stalls, great grandchild, Charlotte Bryant.

    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
