John Valley, according to the map of these things on the deFlock site, there are only two of them in Washington, both at Lowes. Can you tell us where you say others are located in Washington? What is of concern are the license plate readers that send data back to the databanks of the Flock company, not the common video cameras that are not designed to read and store license plate info or send it off to a mass data base.

Commented on Flock cameras, big brother is watchingThat government can access this Flock public surveillance empire is what is frightening. I looked at the deFlock site in a link in a previous post, and it is almost certain there are two of these cameras at the Washington Lowes according to their location map. Should we be surveilled every time we shop there? Many of these surveillance devices can pick up cell phone information and send it to a central database. This makes my desire to shop at Lowes quite negative if I can get what I need somewhere else.

Commented on Democrat pivot to the far left: 3 liberal incumbents ousted by far left in NY Congress primaryCitizens should do more to really find out about politicians. Working for a candidate at the polls can open your eyes to reality on lots of local politicians. Sites like this help a lot, too. Many politicians project themselves as something they are not. I voted for Randy Walker the first time he ran, believing his statements that he was a conservative. Then I saw in the last primary where he and his wife worked against all the conservatives running locally at the Chocowinity Fire Station precinct, and particularly hard against the conservative school board candidates. His wife Carolyn is on the school board. Voters need to study the candidates not just fall for what they tell you. Democrats will lie to you but so will some who are running on the Republican ticket.

Commented on Arkansas test scores leap after schools ban Critical Race Theory and Radical Gender TheoryI remember the liberal Walkers, Carolyn and Randy, campaigning hard at Chocowinity Fire Station against two conservative school board members, Hickman and Rader, but how were two defeated in the primary? Hickman won. Both Gilead and Chocowinity voted at the fire station, with Gilead split between Rader's and Hickman's districts, and part of Chocowinity in Hickman's. I think Rader's opponent waw one of those teachers union types, but not sure about Hickman's. Carolyn Walker was concentrating on Rader's race and Randy on Hickman's, supporting their opponents.
I agree that this woke mess out of our schools.

Commented on Washington, N.C., Deserves Better Than ThisAnyone living in Beaufort County should hang their head in shame over the way Nick Fritz was forced to resign by his political adversaries sending their goon squad first to his restaurant to harass his customers and employees and then to his home to intimidate his children. What kind of a city is Washington and what kind of county do we live in?
I see from Washingtonian's comment that we are not alone, with a GOP local government candidate's home in Mecklenburg County being used as a shooting gallery, compelling him to resign his nomination. Is this America or a banana republic?

Commented on Liberal Beaufort County commission majority votes to keep "Limited Voting" election methodFrom what I saw from Randy Walker and his wife Carolyn Walker at the Chocowinity / Gilead polling place on the last election day, this just not surprise me at all.
Voters in Beaufort County want to junk limited voting as quickly as possible. Why do some sleazy politicians just not get it?

Commented on Reminder: Scheduled City Council MeetingBeaufort County citizens living outside Washington are fortunate as Washington has been a circus since the death of former Mayor Mac Hodges. First they had the self serving strongarm high tax Sadler faction. Then they thought they had fixed it with a new team. Unfortunately, things are not going so well with that team. Joe Davis has turned out to have a tendency to shoot from the hip and go off half cocked. He probably means well, but he tends to open his mouth and engage his keyboard without fully thinking things through. Tyre is pure evil, and Horton is his wingman. Perrault tries to play both sides, and has gotten in bed with Tyre more than he should. Fritz was the only sane guy up there and now he is gone. Brabo as mayor has not set the world on fire, but at least she is honest for a change.
If you live outside of Washington, you can get out the popcorn and watch the soap opera. If you have the misfortune to live in Washington, however, it is a tax nightmare.

Commented on Queen Garris Shoots Herself In The Other FootThere is too much focus on this site of the "inside baseball" of what is going on in the local Republican Party. Voters care about who is going to reduce our taxes and how they are going to get a county commission majority to do that.

Commented on School districts and lower courts keep defying SCOTUS to trans kids against parents rightsThat explains what I saw from Carolyn Walker and her husband on primary election day at Chocowinity Fire Station, Conservative Voter. My guess was right. Carolyn Walker was very busy running around smearing her board colleague Rader while her husband Randy was doing the same thing on her board colleague Hickman I concluded that there was something that had them worked up into a tizzy. Do the Walkers have an LGBTQ person in their family or as a close friend? ?

That background on Carolyn and Randy Walker is interesting. I had no idea there was that much venom on the school board until I saw them in action at Chocowinity Fire Station badmouthing two of Carolyn's school board colleagues for hours. Apparently they kept up their rants against Hickman and Rader later at the Board of Elections. If I had not been there working for a candidate in a different race, I don't think I would have believed that an elected official and her husband would be running down colleagues of the same party so viciously.
There are comments about ideological differences, but what I observed appeared to be more personal than ideological. I guess it could be both. I have never watched the school board meetings on TV. Is there as much personal animosity on display there as on the county commission?. It looks to me that Mrs. Walker has as big a chip on her shoulder as anyone on the county commission from what I witnessed election day.

There is more to those School Board races than networking with Armstrong. I worked as a volunteer in a race for a different office at Chocowinity Fire Station where Gilead and Chocowinity voted. School Board member Carolyn Walker and her husband County Commissioner Randy Walker actively worked the voters for the opponents of Carolyn's board colleagues Charles Hickman and Steven Rader for much of the day. Carolyn Walker was working against Rader and Randy Walker against Hickman. Both were not only promoting the opponents but actively smearing the incumbents. I did not see that level of negative campaigning from any other candidate.
Today, I talked to a friend who was at the Board of Elections as the votes were announced. I am told the Walkers were very loud in smearing both Hickman and Rader at that event. This type of behavior by the Walkers is uncalled for. .
