Commented on Washington, N.C., Deserves Better Than ThisWhat Washingtonian described Monday should terrify every resident regardless of party. They stopped an elected council member from speaking. Twice. Then stripped him of two committee appointments in the same session. Then hired a city manager without the public vote the law requires. And Max Perreault — the man who campaigned as a taxpayer watchdog, who said he'd bring transparency back to Washington — voted with this machine every single step of the way. If the GOP Victory Committee is behind this, and all signs point that direction, then the voters of Washington need to understand that the party apparatus they trusted is pointing the gun at the very people it claimed to represent.
