Commented on Big LiesI have been busy the past week getting ready for meetings at work so I had not read any of the articles here recently. Last night, January 14th, the Board of Commissioners held a special called meeting to vote on this land issue. When it was over the City of Washington got their cake and ate it too.
The City was paid $125,000 an acre for some really horrible low wet land. They also got to keep the park they have behind the old PS Jones School. The county could have just given them the park and the City would have been happy, but we let them have the park and paid them $500,000 of your tax dollars too. I thought this land swap issue was a no brainer. Everyone I have spoken to said the same thing as me, swap the land. The City has already put a park and bathrooms on it. They have effectively taken control of it, why not make it formal?

Commented on What's happened to Tandy DunnThe county continues to spend money on stupid stuff. 4.7 million for wi-fi water meters, 2 million for a building they sold for 1 million, $190,000 for a COVID trailer, and on and on and on. So we spend money stupidly. My grammer isn't always the best but hopefully you get what I mean.

Commented on What's happened to Tandy DunnI answered the questions asked. They only gave a limited amount of time on the opening statement (less than what I was told) .
No to raising taxes No to wasteful spending Not trying to be anybody else but who I am. No to a new jail No to a continuation budget In the time frame allowed you just don't have time to speak on everything. I have said all the things you are concerned about in the past and have not changed my stance. We continue to spend money stupid. I blasted the 4.7 million dollar water meters, the expensive non-native palm trees, and building a 2 million dollar building only to sell it for 1 million. These were still stupid. I really don't know what else I can do. I have paid for all my ads and signs myself since the primary. The reason I was not at Monday's forum was because I was on a business trip I paid for in February. One that I have had to miss for the past couple of years. I have run out of space for any more comments.

Commented on School Board member E.C. Peed ducks candidate forumI felt my ads this time should cover other information such as who I am and not repeat past ads. The ad says:
For over 40 years I have served my community as a Firefighter, EMT, and Law Enforcement Officer. Help me continue my service by electing me your next County Commissioner. If elected I will work towards getting our deputies back into the schools, cut wasteful spending and reduce your taxes. Equal services for the entire county will be a focus and we need to get our recycling program back up. I feel like I continued what I have said in the past and with only thirty seconds I said what I could.

Commented on Waste Not, Want NotThis is still an issue today as it was when they sunk all this money in wifi water meters. No water customer I have spoken to has said they are saving any money. And the savings it was supposed to result in has not materialized. Just another day wasting our tax dollars.

Five votes is not a big lead but it gets me on the ballot in November. I appreciate everyone that voted for me and ask for your continued support.
Beaufort County taxpayers need a break. With continued increases in fuel prices our other basic commodities like food will rise in costs. We need to do everything we can to stop wasteful spending and put money back in the pockets of our citizens. I would be more than happy to speak to anyone about what can be done to cut our taxes while still providing essential services to the county. Spend money on what we need and not what we want. I will support our newly elected Sheriff and work to return our deputies to the schools and the court house. I will also work with the school systems to ensure parents have a say in their children’s education. Again, thank you for your support.

Commented on Waste Not, Want NotAll business of the county needs to be conducted in front of the citizens. We should know where our money is being spent and how.

Commented on "Progressiveness" in Beaufort County Government Offers its Citizens Another Rise in TaxesWell this month's audio of the Commissioner's Meeting is horrible. Even at full volume you can not hear it hardly. Last month's volume was fine but apparently you have to push a button to be heard and then unpush it for the next person to speak. That didn't work that well so you missed about 1/4th of what was being said.
Send more money to get less product. Seems the standard in Beaufort County..
