"No Habla Ingles" | Eastern North Carolina Now

Today on Mothers’ Day at 3:22 p.m., with a house full of mothers from all sides of the family, I was interrupted by a constituent, Neil Keech, from the North Creek precinct - Schrams Beach neighborhood. Now I don’t mind constituents calling me on any given Sunday; actually, if they relate the point rather quickly, as Neil did, I appreciate them ever so much more. However, Mr. Keech took my appreciation to an even higher level. Neil related to me an issue, which he folded into a story that was so outrageous, it actually provided me and my collected family, a good belly laugh all around.

As there is in all funny stories, there is always an element of truth; and, in this story, an element of tragedy. The truth of the matter is that we are in the throes of a great census that is prescribed by the United States Constitution to solely determine the nature of all states’ and commonwealths’ representation in the United States House of Representatives. Of course, the U.S. Census has evolved into more of a demographic tracking service to enhance Democrat policy. For right or wrong, a great deal of public money is now spent for the collection of this data. Today, through Neil Keech, we found out how some of it is misspent.

In the vast expense of conducting a census that now tracks the demographics of American culture rather than the number of her true citizens, the largest expense of this exercise is the cost of the census takers and their management team. Today what I heard from Mr. Keech draws one to the conclusion that the wise and pragmatic operation of this practice is in question.

But first the story: Mr. Keech was trying to wrest a bit of rest from this quiet, cool, Spring Sunday afternoon before his “graveyard shift” at the Beaufort County Medical Center. Torn from his fine repose, by a census taker on this celebratory day, he politely answered the door only to find someone, who could not speak English, and Mr. Keech has not yet sufficiently learned Spanish. Fearing that he would be perceived as somewhat less than cordial, he responded, “No hablo Espanol.” That concluded his first meeting with the census taker: an impasse. There was a language barrier, I do believe.

And while I find this quite ironic, and part of the great humor of the ongoing tragedy that is the Obama Administration, there is a first person, personal side to this sorry affair. My clear-eyed and strong, 23 year-old son applied for one of those part-time census jobs. As of this writing, he has not been notified of his appointment. Currently, Stanhope Jr. is at the beginning of his new career as a fulltime college student. The part-time job would work well into his summer time, and his full-time collegiate duties as well.

In early January, Stanhope was mustered out of the U.S. Coast Guard as a noncommissioned officer, with an honorable discharge. Since then, we squeezed him into Beaufort County Community College with a full load. It appears he is doing well enough as a student, and he scored 98 out of 100% on the qualifying test for census takers. My son actually has a reputation as a young man being of good humor, fine manners, and other than the recent instance of his disarming and beating a young African-American man near senseless, who stole into the sanctity of his abode intending to rob him one night last winter, he is a young man of impeccable hospitality. Why, just why did he not get one of these jobs that is paid by public money, when someone, who cannot speak English in an English speaking land, is hired to do a job that takes a great deal of communication?

This afternoon, while speaking with my North Creek constituent, Neil Keech, I figured it out: First; Stanhope Jr. has been a registered Republican since he was old enough to vote; second, he is my son, and liberals generally do not like me much as proven by their constant, and quite insipid slander of me and my family; third, Stanhope is a veteran of the armed forces. Bold statements? I will explain.

The public money used to fund this current census is in part from stimulus funding. This money, in a large part is becoming what I feared it would become: A slush fund for Democrat operatives and their loyal minions. That has long been the modus operandi for the Democrats that continue to hold power in North Carolina (we will discuss this practice at a later date). How could my supposition of this abuse of the public trust, at the federal level, be an overestimation of their intended purpose? Actually, one would have to be blind not to see it.

A good indication is the management team that hired a non English speaking census taker in a English speaking land over an obviously more qualified applicant. It’s not that the inept members of this census management team, who hired this non English speaking census taker, have a predilection toward the Hispanic culture, it's just that these bureaucrats are stricken with the affliction that saps so many bureaucrats, who never grow into their jobs as better stewards of the public trust. That is a great component of our ongoing tragedy: Poor managment our bureaucratic resources, and to what extent are the Democrt politicians involved? These bureaucrats have guaranteed jobs as long as they keep their Democratic faith, and many grow less aware each day of their correct duties, and way too stupid in their jobs, which is their charge as our public servants. Most bureaucrats are responsible and diligent, as is expected of our Beaufort County employees. Obviously, the inept member of this census management team responsible for hiring this non English speaking census taker is not.

Originally the discredited political action group / publicly funded nonprofit, Acorn, was origianlly charged with the taking of the census. When this group, who used public money to work diligently for the Barack Obama campaign, was found to be totally corrupt in their charge of the public trust, they were denied the job. One has to wonder if the inept hiring practices of the local census management team are a remnant of the corrupt Acorn / Obama election team, or just another example of overpaid and egregiously stupid bureaucrats?

It is a fair question, and sadly, with either answer being correct, our public trust has been violated, and that is, once again, the manifestation of this ongoing tragedy that is the President Obama administration. With public money poorly spent, way too many idiots or corrupt individuals serving in bureaucratic positions, and the Democratic Stimulus Act in full gear, more jobs are being added everyday. When these useless government servants start competing with the military for public funding, as the public’s money begins to surely run out: How will they, who hire these Democrat / Liberal cronies, feel about the military and their veterans then? I believe all of us right thinking people know the answer. I got a glimpse of it today.

Publisher's note: This article is a commentary constructed on pure speculation that is built upon a large measure of truth. The investigative team here at BCN intends to look into this publicly funded institution to find our more about the hiring practices of the local census group operating in the Beaufort County area.
