George Washington freed all of his slaves in his will, a process called manumission. It was fairly common, usually focused on slaves who has earned particular favor, but sometimes as with Washington, applied to all slaves owned at death. That is a large part of the reason why there were more free blacks in the South than in the north at the time of the War Between the States.

I could say what you said Mr. Bob ("slaves cant consent to anything), in regards to women back in history: "women cant consent to anything."
Black men, ex-slaves got the right to vote before any woman did! Women were owned by the men in their lives. But that was then. Today is different. I have seen a black President, but not a woman president. Women could play the victim as easily as you do. Does that make me want to punish all the men today, for what men did who were running the world back then? No, because that would be punishing innocent people. Put your thinking cap on. Stop being what you claim to hate.

lol well I guess technically your right Bob, and I guess we can’t ask William Lee now whether or not he would have still served Washington, if given the choice. My bets are on that he would.
The point is all things have a purpose in their time and evil thrives in the world. “ And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God? But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.” www.mountvernon.org

Do you really need a list? happy to provide.
"his loyal brother was a black slave" - slaves can't consent to anything. Will - I'm sure its your intention, but without examining your bias, you just won't be doing that. Sorry

Also Bob, just for reference, you know George Washington’s best friend, right hand man, most trusted confidant, and loyal brother was his black slave. There’s a little more to the issue than whips and chains but I’m sure you will never comprehend.

Yeah CV, that is historical fact.
Personally I had nothing to do with enslaving anyone. So I’m going to continue living my life aiming to treat all people with mutual respect as equal individuals.

What ARE you Democrats going to do about the wrongs your party did, Bobbie? It was the Democrats who introduced and passed NC's Jim Crow laws at the turn of the century, as a political power play to break up the coalition between the Republicans and the Populist Party that had gained power in the state. Every Democrat in the General Assembly voted FOR Jim Crow and every Republican and Populist voted AGAINST it. The Democrats won power back running on an open platform of white supremacy, and Jim Crow was how they implemented it. Its your party's baby, Bobbie, so whatever you Democrats want to do about what you did over a century ago should NOT impose on those whose predecessors voted against Jim Crow.

DEI includes discrimination based on race and other factors in hiring, admissions, promotions, and other things. By definition, DEI is a form of racism.
Two wrongs do not make a right. Punishing a group of people today for what their fathers or grandfathers may have done 60 years ago and more is just obscene.

Fact. Up until 1964 the white people and people of color were not equal under the law.
In 1964 the laws changed but hearts take a long time to change before equality can be achieved. DEI attempts the get privileged white people to examine their bias to level the playing field. As a white man or woman, I’m sure you have no idea what I’m talking about. Fragile snowflakes melt in the light of day

Seeing the world through the prizm of race again, Bigot Bob? That is all you race hustlers ever seem to do. On the other hand, as Dr. Martin Luther King's neice likes to say "the only race that matters is the human race". And you seem to ignore that DEI is about favoritism in hiring and promotion, too, Bobbie.

For 300 years white people were treated different. DEi just teaches people to be aware of resulting bias and allow for others to share in the American promise.
It’s that simple.

DEI is a collectivist notion by the far left that insists on treating people as members of groups instead of as individuals and prioritizes some groups over others. It is entirely Marxist and racist.
The sad thing is the Beaufort County Community College is eaten up with it and our commisioners will not jerk their chain.

Considering how clueless most of you are about DEI, it’s not surprising many have strong feelings. Hard to appreciate something you don’t know anything about.

Considering how poorly DEI hires perform, I figured that the 61% number would be higher; maybe closer to 100%.
