Comments for Why Vote for Conservatives?

Who you vote for affects your quality of life and much more.

I'll say it again: The midterms aren't going to be the end of the road for the common sense conservatives/republicans BUT, for the far left and Uber hard right, it's going to be a Noon To Moon jam with a shit headlining bill.

2028 is going to be an interesting season for the GOP; watch the Third Party become the direction of the El-eats. What's playing out to the public has long been known in Grassroots think-tanks....it just ain't been everybody's cup of tea.

We need management qualities not previous teacher quality. Take a look at the real numbers and your current results. One half of your school buildings in Beaufort County are half empty. Why? Twenty-four months ago, the NCBOE report was that of our thirteen schools, eight rated a “D”.(now 40 by the BOE). Thirty percent of our students are at their grade reading and math level. Who has a plan? Has anyone heard of a plan presented by any candidate? Both Democrats, Republicans and unaffiliated go to the same schools. All should be concerned. Not only go woke go broke, go woke go stupid.

Joe Davis: As publisher, I know who most of the aliases truly are, and often I am amazed as to how some commenters will try to link the allowed aliases to the real names of certain people, and always, without fail, actually fail to do so in manner of accuracy.

I am personally often linked to Van Zant, and while I suspect who Van Zant truly is, it is not me. His signature diction is different than mine, and anyone that writes well would instinctively know that.

As a local elected official, if I take the time to write something in my real words, expressing my real thoughts, I will stick my real name on it.

RH: Carolyn and her husband are both ex-officio members of the local GOP Executive Committee, and I think are both voting members also. It has also been reported to me by credible sources that the present Party Chair caters to them over a number of the conservative elected office holders of the County Commission and the School Board. My point is that this liberal faction with links to the radical teacher's union is at the very least pretty well represented in the local GOP organization.

N.L: Touche. You've hit the nail on the head. The ones that control the local GOP are not for the overall party. They are just a bunch of unethical insiders. Woolard's name was even being used in a party ad during this election season. These people have little good judgement and even less scruples.

I dont even talk like that. RINO republicans are the biggest issue the county party faces! Until they become the suppressed minority, the county will continue to suffer. Deatherage and Brinson are two key candidates to bring back sanity. It's time to stop with the same old same old.

Hi there Nelson aka Joe Davis.

Didn't Walker get Cheeseman to elevate a relative of hers to be an assistant principal for a slot that others were better qualified for and were in line ahead of her relative? Is that how the power politics of the school system operates? Jump people ahead based on the power of a relative?

Watch how the Walker faction plays the school board decisions with this $400,000. Won't be surprising that one of their friends or family members gets the psychologist job. That's why they work so hard to control who gets elected to the board. Trading votes for favors...it happened with Snowden...looks like it's happening again.

Woolard is still a member because of the corruption of the executive committee by the victory committee. He is hoping to gain an advantage by helping drive strategy, messaging and spending decisions to help him win in the election because he isn't a good choice for commissioner if anybody knows his background. It was the same thing they did for his brother in the Washington municipal elections.

VZ, as I recall some of BP's past comments identified her as a teacher at Eastern Elementary School, back while Cheeseman was still the Big Cheese, rather than a member of any GOP faction. She is probably miffed that concerns have been raised about liberal fellow teacher Monica Davis, who was a very longtime Democrat but now running as a "Republican" and Carolyn Walker candidate. There was a whole mafia of teachers behind Davis, many of them Democrats.

Further, why is Ashley Woolard, a candidate in this election, still an active member of the Victory Committee?

The novices among us may or may not know that the Bp comment comes from one of those zombie faction members of the local GOP. They have a long history of hatred for Conservatives, allegiance to tyrannical leaders and aversion to basic ethics. The article is telling the truth. Beware of people that hate the truth.

Bath parent, as I recall you were previously id'ed as a teacher at Eastern Elementary, and you seemed to be an ally of Cheeseman. That probably also means Walker.

You are probably worried about the race between "Republican" Monica Davis and Democrat Danielle Brinson. While Deatherage related the conversation he had with Mrs. Brinson outside early elections, he never made an endorsement in that race. Given that Davis has been a Democrat most of the time she has lived in Beaufort County, and only a recent opportunistic convert to the GOP, and she has not said a single conservative word in her campaign, many conservatives have been wondering what to do in that race. Now we know that Brinson is the more conservative of the two candidates. What each of us does with that will probably vary. I have not yet decided myself. For Republicans, two of our school board nominees this year are liberals, and that does not do much for our comfort level. One of the things we need to remember is that we absolutely have to do a lot better in the 2028 primaries.

We know that Carolyn Walker is trying to bring back another longtime liberal Democrat, Mack Hodges, as an opportunistically "reborn Republlcan" in another conservative seat in 2028.

$400,000 given to the School Board for psychological services will be nothing but wasted money for zero effect. This will result in another overpaid bureaucrat sitting at the county office pretending to solve a problem. No single person can effectively handle twelve schools and all the students needs. What about the additional money that will be needed for the lawsuits that will arise if there is a suicide that occurs that "could have been prevented" because the school's shrink didn't do their job? I'm sure there are better ways to help at risk children. Providing a 24-hour hotline and making it known to all children would be less expensive and possibly more effective. There may already be one but who knows about it. Seems very similar to the metal detectors that were absolutely necessary under Cheeseman but are not used. The perception of security and assistance is the goal...not thinking critically to provide the best solution possible to any situation.

As to my own votes, I always vote on policy and principle, never personality. I vote for the candidates who have convinced me that they will best uphold my own conservative values in the office they are running for. When I encounter a candidate who dodges commitments and tries to avoid giving you a straight answer, I identify them as someone who cannot be trusted and I avoid them like the plague. A candidate who bobs and weaves on issues is not going to serve the voters well.

Efficiently run political parties usually set up a small committee of experienced campaigners to run their party advertising campaigns supporting candidates. Executive committees are too large and cumbersome to do that, especially since they meet only monthly. In a fast moving campaign, a more nimble organization is needed to respond to developing opportunities and make necessary adjustments and responses based on what the other side is doing.

Over the past 50+ years, I have served quite often myself on such committees at both the county and Congressional district party level. Back in the 1980s under county chairmen Carol Cochran, Tom White, Al McMicken, and myself, we called it the Campaign Committee. In more recent years it has been called the Victory Committee.

The Victory Committee does not function and did not meet during the primaries. The reason is that the party Plan of Organization does not allow parties to intervene in primaries. In the general election, we are charged to support the entire ticket. In a "turnout" race in a non-presidential year like the current midterm election, the key is figuring out the best formula to get as many Republican voters to the polls as possible. That often involves issues, but it also involves knowledge of which races are more likely to pull out reluctant voters based on past experience.

Addressing the contention about the last city council race, the party was required by the Plan of Organization to support the registered Republicans running and prohibited from supporting anyone running who was registered in any way other than Republican. That clearly meant with five registered Republicans running, that is who we were bound to support. All five of those candidates were endorsed by name in both the radio ads and the social media ads run by the Victory Committee.

The argument that including one of those five who was not running an active campaign somehow hurt any of the other four simply does not hold water. It is likely that most of those who voted for that candidate probably did so based on his inclusion among the Big Five on the endorsement list. Since those voting that list had already voted for all of the other four by voting the list, they could not have gone back and cast a second vote for any of them. A voter only gets one vote per candidate, not two.

Lets look at the results of any other action the Victory Committee could have taken. If we had defied party rules and endorsed the same list as the Conservative Club which included a conservative Unaffiliated, all that would have done is shift the votes from the fifth Republican to the Unaffiliated and would not have changed who was elected to the council. The Unaffiliated, who ran second anyway, would just have run a much stronger second.

If the committee had only endorsed four on the theory that the fifth candidate was not running an active race, what voters would have done with their fifth vote would have been all over the landscape. Some would have stopped at four. Others might have looked at the Conservative Club list and added the conservative Unaffiliated. Others would have picked a fifth candidate based on all sort of reasons. None of them could have voted for any of the other four a second time. This would have likely reduced the odds of the two Republicans who ran close but did not make it across the line, instead of increasing them.

A little analysis and consideration of alternatives shows the argument that the Victory Committee's position hurt any Republican candidate just does not hold water.

Bath Parent: As publisher of encnow.com, I allow Democrats, Democratic Socialists, Leftists, RINOs, RINO Whisperers, and Real Republicans /Conservatives comment on this publication. Just because of my wide range of acceptance of the opinions of others, I am NOT a RINO.

Along with Hood Richardson, I have the most conservative voting record in the history of Beaufort County's commissioners. You would not know that because you have shown, in your words here within this publication's comment section as an alias, that you have the working untruthful mind of a Democrat, Democratic Socialist, Leftist, RINO, or RINO Whisperer, all enablers of one another.

You are NOT a Real Republican; you are NOT a Conservative, so how would you what constitutes such to viably make a truthful mention of who is who and what is what?

Your comment is patently false regarding information within the article above.
