Commented on City of Washington is upgrading its electric & water meters to Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI)If it ain't broke, don't fix it!. This is more wasteful spending by a spendthrift city council, and an invasion of privacy on top of that. When we already have working electric meters why replace them? There are lots of genuine deficiencies in our electric system that need fixing. Why waste money on "Big Brother" Orwellian electric meters?

How does conservative voting Beaufort County end up with a majority liberal voting School Board that is becoming more liberal? It is becoming more liberal because 2 teachers union members have been added from the last Republican primary. Mind you, this board presently consists of 8 Republicans and 1 Democrat. I propose that this happens the same way we have a county commission with 5 Republicans and 2 Democrats that is controlled by the 2 Democrats.
On the County Commission 2 of the 5 Republicans are recent changes from the Democrat Party that switched for election purposes. Surprise, surprise, they are the ones aligned with the Democrats on the Board that give the liberals the Board advantage. The situation on the School Board lately has been immensely interesting: In District 8 Conservative Donald Shreve was defeated in a crowded primary field by a teacher union candidate that has already shown herself to be a liberal. In District 6 an interesting progression of events transpired. When Conservative Gary Carlton moved there was an appointment process by the local Republican Party Executive Committee in order to fill the seat. Executive Committee members residing in School District 6 got to vote on the applicants that filed for the position. Highly qualified conservative Steven Rader asked to be considered. In response, at least two presently serving Republican School Board members from other districts worked on finding an opponent. For sure we know one was involved, because Mrs. Carolyn Walker made the motion for the other candidate. Mr. Rader prevailed on the vote. When Mr. Rader sought to defend the seat in the recent primary, Ive been told that Mrs. Walker worked on recruiting another candidate to oppose Rader in District 6. We know for certain that she worked at the polls for that District 6 opponent. That's a lot of meddling in other districts by Carolyn Walker. In this instance her teacher union candidate won the primary. In District 2, Republican Charles Hickman won the general election back in 2022. I do not believe a Republican had ever run in that district before. Hickman won over an incumbent Democrat that had held the seat for decades. In the most recent primary, elements of the local Republican party suddenly got interested in the 2nd District for the first time and produced a candidate in opposition to Mr. Hickman. Again, with support from outside of this district also, including School Board member Carolyn Walker and her husband Commissioner Randy Walker who campaigned at the polls against Hickman. I hear that the notorious Ms. Forrest from Philly and pal of Chairman Garris was involved too. Could it be that those folks were not motivated to oppose a Democrat but could not stand a conservative Republican in the seat? Mr. Hickman prevailed in this one. I don't know what to make of the SB District 4 race, so I'll leave it alone. Conclusion: 1. The local Democrat Party seems to have little to do with this continuing move to the left on Beaufort County Boards and Commissions - Not overtly anyway. 2. A faction of the Beaufort County Republican Party (which seems to be the controlling faction) is highly invested in this move to the left of our Boards and Commissions. There is certainly more than just circumstantial evidence to support such a conclusion.

When it came to Cooper and his Covid lockdown, he gave an exception to BLM, and Cooper even marched with them personally in spite of his lockdown of everybody else. How does a far left radical organization like BLM get an exception when Cooper was closing our churches? The co-founders of BLM are on video explaining that they are "trained Marxists", so Cooper's fondness for them is similar to today's "Democrat Socialists".
I wish we had a better candidate than Whatley, but we definitely have to defeat Crazy Cooper.

Recently, a town council in Texas defied a huge standing room only crowd of angry citizens and unanimously approved planning permission for a massive Islamic complex. Now citizens are circulated recall petitions to force a recall election, as can be done under Texas law, to remove the mayor and the entire town council which did that from office.

Fortunately, Rep. Keith Kidwell organized a series of lawsuits to reopen first the churches, and then various categories of businesses.
The original Pandemic Plan of the World Health Organization, before Communist China got Tedros, its nominee installed as director, was to depend on herd immunity to combat a respiratory virus pandemic. After the WHO, under new Chinese management, pivoted to the totalitarian Chinese lockdown plan, Fauci and Cooper followed.

Commented on Florida public schools curriculum will require instruction on the history and evils of communismLet me expand on what is going on with the Social Studies (history) curriculum here in the Beaufort County Schools.
Social Studies (history) has been probably the most contested curriculum area around the country. It is the focus of the furor going on in Iowa. There the Department of Education came out with a Social Studies curriculum embedded with lots of the woke agenda from promoting open borders to a very one sided presentation on climate issues, and lots of other things in between. The governor and legislature told them that was unacceptable. They produced a new version that only slightly watered down those things. The governor and legislature again told them it was unacceptable and had to be changed. Here in Beaufort County, our school system has not had a Social Studies curriculum at all for years. Each individual teacher has had to put together their own. That means there is nothing remotely consistent about what is being taught. Many very conscientious teachers do their best to pull together what materials they can on an objective basis. However, there is likely to be some personal ideology seeping through in some cases, whether intentionally or simply because for some people their own beliefs and the "facts" become intertwined in their minds. I would hope that teachers doing this intentionally is rare, but there is no way to know. The history teachers I have personally talked to seem to be doing this objectively. Having an adopted curriculum by the School Board gives a consistent approach throughout the school system and is a way to know what is being taught. This would also take a burden off of teachers. A couple of years ago, a committee of teachers appointed by the school board proposed adopting the SAVVAS social studies curriculum. This company is known for injecting DEI in its curricula. In Florida, even its math curriculum was rejected because even math was loaded with DEI. In Beaufort County, a standing room only crowd came to a school board meeting objecting to this curriculum, and the school board voted to reject it. Several of us on the school board have raised the issue of moving forward on adopting a Social Studies curriculum, but we keep getting pushback. Realistically, finding the money to pay for it is an issue. However, there are some curricula out there that are free, where finding the money would not be an issue. One of those that reflects American values rather than the woke agenda is produced by Hillsdale College and is well regarded. My predecessor on the board, Gary Carlton, was promoting this back during his tenure. It is an option that should be considered. (My comments are my own. I do not speak for the School Board as a whole. The School Board can only take official action as a body)

As long as the Senate has the filibuster. 41 Democrats can block any attempt to make meaningful budget cuts. Trying to use the "budget recolliation" process is hamstrung by a partisan Senate Parliamentarian who was appointed by Harry Reid but weak "Republican" Senate leaders McConnell and Thune refused to replace her. She seems to greenlight any "Rconciliation" bills the Democrats want but blocks much of what the GOP wants, If we are going to get meaningrul budget cuts, she needs to go.
Regular Democrats are just as crazy on government spending. That does not explain why socialists are taking them out in primaries. This is a long term development, and what has happened in the schools is a much better explanation.

There is a state program of study or curriculum in each subject area that is adopted by the North Carolina Board of Education. This board consists mostly of political appointees of the governor and our recent governors have been liberal Democrats.
The local school board is supposed to "align" with what the state decrees, BUT it is up to the local board to decide what "aligns" and what does not. The NC Department of Public Instruction (DPI) or NC Board of Education has no power to veto the decisions of the local boards. This was emphasized to Rep. Kidwell, when he introduced local legislation to allow our school board to use the Hillsdale College social studies curriculum. the legal staff of the General Assembly told Rep. Kidwell that his bill was unnecessary as the local school board already had that power, no matter what the opinion of DPI might be. There is one big cavaet. In dealing with "tested" subjects that are part of the standardized tests given to students, it is important that all material in the state program be taught because it way be on the tests. This is true of subjects like math and science but not of untested subjects like Social Studies / history. The buck stops with your local elected school board members. They are the ones with the power to decide what is taught in our public schools. It is important to elect school board members who take this responsibility seriously and do not just delegate it to others Our schools need a curriculum that promotes student learning and teaches American values, not one that promotes the "woke" narrative. there are many elements of the education industry pushing the woke agenda, and it takes strong board members to resist it, At the state level, Texas and Florida have been a the forefront of keeping the curriculum aligned with American values. But even in some conservative run states like recently Iowa and Alaska, elected officials have had to push back against very "woke" Social Studies curricula. The one put forward in Alaska, for example did not even mention George Washington or Abraham Lincoln in its presentation of American history. (My comments are my own. I am not speaking for the whole of the School Board. The board can only take official action as a body)

Inflation is mostly caused by deficit spending, which is a Democrat specialty. Increase in health care costs and housing are driven by illegal immigration, another Democrat specialty. Food borne illness comes from imported foods these days, from Mexico and Chile. Illegal immigration is also bringing discease into our country. Polling shows that younger voters are more to the left, and public education is a likely suspect in that. In contrast, in Europe, where illegal immigration has had more impact, it is the younger voters who are farthest to the right, particularly supporting anti-immigration parties of the populist right. They have seen the harm of illegal immigration while in school with their own eyes.

One, in the Bath district has already taken office and shown herself to be a liberal. the other one has been a Democrat most of the time she has lived in Beaufort County and is likely to be even worse. The two liberal kingpins of the School Board, Carolyn Walker and T.W. Allen are both up for election in 2028 and both need to be challenged by conservatives in order to restore a meaningful conservative presence on the school board.
