My how I have expended far too much time and precious resources traveling from north to south, and back again, here Beaufort County, as I am one of the many here in this County that has that permanent need to do so.

This issue is once again just part of the continuing pandemic of bad management that often occurs in how we self-govern.

There is a solution: Politicians MUST manage bureaucrats, and we, The People, must elect politicians willing to perform far better oversight.

Big Bob you may be right ... for some Republicans here in North Carolina.

You neglected, however, to leave out the third leg of that proverbial stool of exceptions for abortions, in which you did state "rape and incest," but that neglected third exception would be "severe health risks," which is still an exception here in North Carolina.

The abortion conundrum is the most difficult issue to legislate, since it does involve the restriction of a woman's Free Will in lieu of the natural protection of an unborn child.

For any lawmaker in any state, it is tantamount to the lawmaking conundrum of when to exercise the Death Penalty for crimes against humanity. I see no difference in the severity in this level of judgement for general assembly lawmakers here in North Carolina.

It is such an awesome responsibility, it might would be wise for Democratic Socialists to NOT make such an issue of Abortion, and instead better consider the many smaller laws regulating the conduct of who we are, and who we could become as a People.

In that simarially awesome regard, issues of Abortion, and even environmentally "Saving the Planet for Human Usage" would take care of themselves by US all becoming better stewards of how we conduct ourselves, thus in taking care of OUR most precious things.

One thing I do know for sure, our better actions, by listening to our "better angels," would cut down on what I like to call the Grand Hypocrisy of Others, which right NOW is at an all time high; with the most frivolous among US generally being the greatest hypocrites in continual practice.

I will never go back and watch Fox News again! The owners and the editors in the publishers for Fox News don't give one hoot in hell for the people that watch the network and the shows. They can't constantly complain about conservative voices just like the president Administration they're all going to hell! It Fox News were to ever go back to a conservative mentality I might come back but not until then Murdock can shove it with the sun don't shine!

Have these European countries lost their minds? Freezing to death during the winter of 2022 and now the leaders are planning to starve Europe in the winter of 2023 is insane. Do they not know how this will end? Caving in to the Globalist climate alarmist by shutting down fossil fuel and nuclear power power generation and now stopping food production will not end well. Biden and his ill informed sycophants are dead set on the same strategy for the United States. If anyone believes they are saving the Earth with these policies, they need to wake up and smell the roses or prepare to live in 1932. Ask your grandparents what that was like!

ESG is a "woke" dogma like DEI and CRT. The "S" in ESG stands for "social justice" which most of us would call plain old socialism. That woke / common core math curriculum just approved by our school board is packed with that "social justice" far left political indoctrination. Our school board let us down.

But it is good to see our State Treasurer Dale Folwell standing strong against use of our state's pension investment funds by Blackrock to push ESG. Folwell took the proxies away from Blackrock to put a stop to that.

One of the reasons Silicon Valley Bank failed was its coroprate risk officer was spending her time on pushing ESG instead of dealing with the real world of corporate risk.

What should be taught in schools is the real history, not fake history through the Marxist prizm of CRT and DEI and ESG which is all intended to divide America.

Don't be too sure of what MLK would be if he were alive today. Take his neice, Alveda King, who was active in the civil rights movement herself. Her politics went from being a Democrat state legislator and supporter of Jesse Jackson for president to a public supporter of Donald Trump for president in 2016 and 2020. She responds to the CRT / DEI / ESG advocates by saying the only race that is important is the human race. MLK may well have followed a similar path to that of his neice.

Looks like the verdict is in. Most republicans think if abortion is legal up to 12 weeks, which is 3 months, they can get re-elected. Big Bob agrees. 3 months is fair as long as abortion for rape and incest are included which it appears to be. Basically ladies, if you are having sex and miss a period, you better test. In most cases you will still have 4 weeks to decide. More than fair. Good job legislators for not caving to the extremists on either side.

Sorry, I just have trouble when right wingers start cuddling up to MLK now that he is dead. I witnessed how he was treated when alive. The BO would have likely smeared him every chance it got just like most of the "publications" of the day did. You understand all that is very well documented in the history you don't want taught in schools. Shameful.

Yeah, the climate cult is bound and determined to make it rough. Look at Germany which started down this idiotic path years before we did. Their residential electric rates are three times what ours are and they keep going up. That is what expensive and unreliable wind and solar power does to electric rates. Tripling our power bills; yeah these climate cult Democrats are going to make it rough on the middle and working class, but the elistists who push this crap at the WEF have plenty of money to pay their bills.

Lemmings like you blindly beleive what the globalist fear mongers feed you, and continue to march on in the biggest doomsday cult in history - Chicken Little on steroids. Never mind that NONE of the dozens of doomsday predictions the climate cult has made that were supposed to have happened by now HAVEN'T and haven't even come close. ONly the most addled true beleivers continue to follow a cult like that.

It's because most of us see what's coming. However you can rest easy. None of this is gonna change anything. Its to little, to late.

The sponsor of this bill allowing Blue Cross to loot its own reserves, which is contrary to the interests of those covered by its health insurance, was sponsored by a liberal Thom Tillis Republican, Rep. John Bradford (RINO-Mecklenburg). In fact, Bradford was Tillis' own hand picked replacement when Tillis left the seat to go to Washington. Bradford also has a liberal voting history on major liberal bills, like letting men into women's restrooms and locker rooms, saddling electric ratepayers with NC's Green New Deal, and socialized medicine with the Obamacare Medicaid expansion. Now this liberal scumbag wants to succeed outstanding conservative Dale Folwell as our State Treasurer. That is just not acceptable.

These Democrats are trying to visuallly pollute our coastlines by industrializing the oceans. These whirling demons also kill lots and lots of sea birds. Biden and Cooper are trying to destroy our coastal environment. And what happens to our electric grid when a hurricane destroys most of these wind turbines?

The point is that it is the Biden Democrats trying to force global warming in our personal spaces by artificially forcing up the cost of air conditioning.

Martin Luther King's concept of "judging people by the content of their character instead of the color of their skin" aligns exactly with the American principle of equality of opportunity. The DEI dogma, on the other hand, aligns with Kark Marx's Coummunist Manifesto and the concept of government imposed equality of result.

Thanks for the comments and thanks to Stan for the automatic notification when someone comments on one of my older articles. At 77 years old, I realize that I am probably far out of touch with the various local venues for aspiring entertainers, but I can’t help but wonder if there are still troubadours touring the country in small bars, VFW clubs, or Bowling Alley entertainment rooms. My time on the beer trail was full of such joints. It was a time when entertainers drove in cars, Greyhound, or trains, or parhaps with a guitar strapped over their shoulder and a thumb in the air from town to town honing their talent. Many never made it to stardom but a few like those mentioned in the comments did and we are all the better for it. As Stan said, Gordon created songs that will never be forgotten until we too pass. There are those who say, like the old blues singers, you can’t write a sad or inspirational song until you have lived a sad or inspirational life. I don’t know if that is true but thank God that these songs were written.
Thanks also to Andrea Hayward Nickerson for your parent’s participation in those days of yore. Atlanta is a city that doesn’t hold much to maintaining historical buildings. I have not been by the old Bistro site in years, but I do occasionally visit The Varsity -1928- which is not far from there. I will be sure to drive by and see what a atrocity has been built on that lot.

Thanks Steve for you kind comment here on John Steed's post, an excellent read by the way.

I have always appreciated your support and you wise counsel, and will always consider you my constituent of the first order ... You never ask for anything other than my honest efforts, and to think it all through before taking action.

I appreciate this type of support beyond all, and I too endeavor to emulate that support you have shown me in my actions with other assertive politicians as their good constituent myself. In conclusion, I consider you a great patriot in that you, by these actions, help me to be the best commissioner that is within my abilities to have become.

Thank-you Steve, and will continue to try to "pay it forward" when certain politicians show a glimpse that they are worthy.

Thanks for sharing Andtea.

I guess we all feel a little older now that Gordon Lightfoot has passed, and not too long ago Jerry Jeff Walker, both wrote songs that will never be forgotten.

My mom and dad Tom and Sandy Hayward owned The Bistro during these times. Unfortunately the people that bought the place from my dad burned it down for insurance money in 1974? I think. Many musicians got discovered there like Jimmy Buffet, Oliver, Gordon Lightfoot, etc. My dad had a recording studio upstairs.
