The examples below from France show how this "hate speech" scam is used by leftist politicians for censorship of political opponents. There is absolutely no legitimate excuse to arrest any of those people for their political expressions. You leftists are trying hard to do this to America. Both Blue Cross and the hospital industry are too powerful in the legislature. They are using money, money and money against the average citizen.

Hate speech is real and although you have the right to say these words, are you are not free from the consequences. Sure, one can take anything too far but never underestimate the power of your words on others. I think most of us don't go out of our way to hurt others but sometimes we are careless or stuck in the past.

Lets look at how criminalizing speech is playing out in France (this is what the left wants to do in America):
3 citizens have been arrested for flipping the bird at President Macron, and are now facing a year in jail and a 15,000 euro fine. All have clean records prior to this political arrest. A French woman who is not politically involved and has no criminal record has been arrested for posting on social media that President Macron is "a piece of filth". A French Senator has been arrested and charged with "hate speech" for posting on social media "immigration kills" after an illegal immigrant brutally murdered a young French girl. Two French feminist leaders were arrested and charged with "hate speech" for posting that allowing biological men into womens restrooms was an invasion of womens privacy. And that is only in the past two months. None of those involve any of those people arrested doing anything violent. They are political expressions that were suppressed. It looks like Macron is trying to imitate Petain.

Big Bob, your "straw man argument" regarding this platform's complete advocation for Free Speech is decidedly weak.
Eastern NC NOW moderates violent rhetoric, but not Free Speech, providing the speaker convinces us that they believe what they say to be true. These are our "house rules" that will remain in effect as long as this platform exists.

Um, not all speech is protected....its always been this way. (see SCOTUS case law) If you don't believe me, start right here on this site. Use your words and threaten to hurt or kill people. You know, violence. Tell us all how you and your AR-15 are put people down. Start with the president. Go ahead. Its just speech. Personally, I know better. But go on, knock yourself out.

Big business no longer aligns with free market capitalism but instead pushes crony capitalism, and this is quite frankly a crony capitalist bill. Small and medium sized business still generally follow the free enterprise concept, and that is why they have been dropping their membership in the crony-capitalist US Chamber of Commerce in droves. A "big business bill" is almost always going to be a bill giving some aspect of big business an undeserved favoritism and that is what crony capitalism is all about, using government to give your business an unfair advantage over competitors. That usually means big business getting an advantage over smaller competitors.
A good ecample was the NC Green New Deal bill. While small and medium sized businesses came out to the hearing on the bill, HB951, to oppose it because it will raise their electric costs significantly, and consumer representataives did the same, the crony capitalist NC Chamber of Commerce supported the bill, because one of its influential members, the state electicitry monopoly Duke Energy would make money off of it. This writer with Long Leaf Politics just doesn't seem to get it, while the Daily Haymaker understands it perfectly. Crony capitalists are not the friends of ANYONE else, not small and medium sixed business, and not consumers. The Chamber of Commerce, state or national, has not represented the interests of small and medicum sized business in years, but pushed corrupt crony capitalism instead, and this bill is but one example of crony capitalism. The politicians who hook their wagon to crony capitalism are not the friends of free enterprise or of consumers, either.

Censorship of history and literature is just wrong. Great literatrue is great literature, period. Mark Twain is also getting censored by the left, which wants to push his great works out of libraries. As to the "N word", most of the times I have heard it in my own life has been from black folks unhappy with another black person. I have not heard it from a white person in decades. Apparently, there is a double standard on use of that term. One does not junk great literature just because sensibilities over language change.
As to warnings, there is a whole lot out there that probably ought to have a Marxist warniing on it with a hmmmer and sickle these days that is put out by the modern left.

The UK medical establishment did this same thing for years at the Tavistock Center, and then the horrors of what was happening there got out in the British media (which is much more ideologically diverse than the very narrow MSM in America) and medical opinion changed from that bad experience of mutilating children. The British National Health Service now advises their doctors against even suggesting new names or pronouns and certainly not surgery or drugs for gender confused children. Finland was also out front on this early, learned their lesson and now no longer approves these surgeries and drug regimes for children. They seem to be a heck of a lot smarter than the ideologues pushing this child abuse at UNC, ECU, and Duke. Glad Wake Forest is not in that mix.

But it is not the only tool of the totalitarians who oppose free speech. Classfying things they disagree with as "disinformation" is another one. When someone is wronged, and we want to make things right, what do we do? Most start by asking for forgiveness. Instead of whining about why it’s OK to glorify a book with the N word 214 times why not just apologize by doing something to better a life? Why not end Jim Crow completely? Why not reach out in a meaningful way?
