The aforementioned college kids and the view of the rushing, falling stream that is Lewis Falls lends to one the perspective of the gravity of the situation at hand: Above and below. photos by Stan Deatherage

To get these shots from this perspective of Lewis Falls, I used all my skills of balance, and knowing which branch was strongest to hold onto. When you spend as much time as I do, on the home front, where one only sees sand, clay and wide lovely water, one becomes inured to the view of large hanging rocks, old growth forests, bubbling streams, leaves in color and the perspective gained from great heights: Above and below. photos by Stan Deatherage
