"Every Picture Tells a Story ... Don't It:" On the Road - The Colorful Shenandoah, Chapter III | Eastern North Carolina Now

The old adage: On every trip, half of the fun is getting there, was never more true than on our descent from Big Meadows to Lewis Falls. Returning to our trusty steed, the Ford Mustang, for over a mile all up a steep mountain was another accomplishment all togehter: Above and below.     photos by Stan Deatherage

Continuing down the Lewis Falls trail, I take advantage of having my SLR with me, and make a good many images of this landscape that is so alien to my home in North Carolina's Coastal Plain - Beaufort County: Above and below.     photos by Stan Deatherage

The views along the lower path to Lewis Falls were spectacular, much better than what one would find from the less strenuous environs of Skyline Drive: Above. The top of Lewis falls from this vantage point, down below, is similar to the one a group of vacationing college kids viewed (shown on the succeeding page): Below.     photos by Stan Deatherage
