"Every Picture Tells a Story ... Don't it:" The Southern North Carolina Coast: Part III | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Along the waterfront in Southport, one sees a plethora of activity: the even longer Bald Head Island Ferry - above - the laughter of a small child feeding the Sea Gulls -below.

    Along the waterfront streets of Southport, North Carolina, one can find a these public places on the water - this one with a dock: Above. Many beautiful homes stand upon the edge of these waterfront streets: Below.

    This pretty little town, with its scenic streets and its lovely water resource, must be a a wonderful place to live: Above and below.

    Near the middle of the town of Southport is the Smithfield Burying Ground. This nearly three century old cemetery is the final place of rest for many of the town's fathers, with headstones dating back to the early to mid eighteenth century: Above and below.

    Many small towns have scenic and informative cemeteries, but few as quaint as the uniquely titled Smithville Burying Grounds: Above and below.

    Even though the 4th of July was three weeks earlier, the town of Southport seemed to still be in the spirit. It was like stepping back decades into a Norman Rockwell painting. That would not be so bad, would it?

    One day I plan to return. Maybe, I'll see you there. I'll be taking the pictures.
