This 1.5 mile walk there and back can be the high point of day on occasion. This Saturday evening may well have been the high point of my week.
Alternately, what is so remarkable is that I am transformed into this state of near bliss as I walk and use my little Canon, while the great bulk of others are: hurrying about, sitting but not paying attention to this great wonder, while others, on occasion, are loud and profane. This could sadden most folks, but I understand it as the human condition, which transforms at its own pace.
As I am transcendent to a special place within my own heart, I can only hope that one or two of these others, hurried by their day, can see what I see, and stop to experience the beauty that abounds before our eyes.

The Pamlico River is comprised of water, we all know that; but still the glassy water projects the visage of liquid tin - a perfect reflector, which must throws up quite a visual to the one God. Yahweh must be quite proud of His good work He has wrought here in Beaufort County.

And as is with all things in life, one must be conditioned to receive the good with the bad: In this case on this Saturday, November 2, 2013, it was a rain soaked day until about midday, and then it became a completely overcast day until just before nightfall, and then, just as the day was coming to a stop ... boom - the heavenly fireworks ensued.
Looking southeast toward Castle Island a large pleasure craft sidles past the island's northern shore: Above. And then the ship passes just before me as the sunset meets its apex: Below. photos by Stan Deatherage Click image to expand.
The Pamlico River did sparkle that evening in rivulets of reflecting wash, making brilliant the heavenly drama above that was this beginning night, this dying day.
Looking southwest, we see the pleasure craft seeking its nightly port along Washington's waterfront docks: Above. Gazing south we see the brilliant sunset beginning to play out: Below. photos by Stan Deatherage Click image to expand.
Good day and goodnight.
