Born: December 29, 1933, Died: December 30, 2013

    Hugh Norton Boyd, age 80, a resident of Ridgewood Manor, Washington, NC and formerly of Pinetown, passed away Monday, December 30, 2013.

    There will be a celebration of his life with military honors at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 2, 2014 in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service, officiated by Mike Caton. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Christopher Boyd, Craig Boyd, Marlowe Johnson, Brian Moffitt, Michael Woolard and Rodney Woolard will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 1, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Hwy 264 E., Washington and other times at the home of Billy Boyd, 804 Peninsula Dr., Bath, NC at Peninsula Acres off of Creek Road.

    Mr. Boyd was born December 29, 1933 in Pinetown, son of the late Zachary and Geneva Waters Boyd. On December 26, 1955 he married the former Audrey Leigh Sikes who preceded him in death on May 7, 2008. He was employed as a maintenance mechanic at Texas Gulf from 1968 to 1995. He also worked as a self-employed farmer. Mr. Boyd was a member of Rosemary Church of Christ.

    Mr. Boyd is survived by his son, William Earl (Billy) Boyd and wife Vickie of Bath; his daughters, Karen Leigh Boyd of Pinetown and Audrey (Elaine) Boyd Biggs and husband Mitch of Pinetown; his grandsons, William Craig Boyd and wife Elizabeth Sloan Boyd of Garner and Christopher Michael Boyd and wife Sarah Wuntke Boyd of Bath; his granddaughter, Candice Boyd Moffitt and husband Brian Moffitt of Concord; his great grandchildren, Elijah Moffitt, Georgia Ruth Moffitt, Ryan Boyd, Amelia Boyd, Samuel Boyd, Lily Boyd and Clara Boyd.

    In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his sister, Olga Lucille Boyd; and his brothers, Carl Elwood and William Gerald Boyd.

    Flowers are welcome memorial donations may be made to Rosemary Church of Christ Ladies Aid, 5226 Slatestone Rd., Washington, NC 27889 or Pinetown Rescue & EMS, 7262 N. Boyd Rd., Pinetown, NC 27865.
