    Mrs. Lona Mae Moore Woolard, age 74, a resident of 119 Jackson Street, Washington, died Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington.

    Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, conducted by Pastor Phil O'Carroll.

    Mrs. Woolard was born in Chowan County on May 20, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Jesse Herbert Moore and Hortence Liza Arnold Moore. She graduated from Chocowinity High School. Mrs. Woolard worked as a supervisor in the Dietary Department at Beaufort County Hospital for 41 years.

    On April 12, 1960, she married Kenneth Elwood Moore, who preceded her in death, April 12, 1996.

    She is survived by her son, Kenneth Elwood Woolard, Jr. and wife, Sandra of Washington; a sister, Gloria Price of Washington; and five grandchildren, Kenneth Woolard III, Chris Woolard, Kodi Woolard, Zack Woolard and Stori Woolard.

    In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Woolard was preceded in death by a brother, Buddy Moore and two sisters, Grace Loflin and Juanita O'Carroll.
