    Raleigh, NC     The Office of Governor Pat McCrory announced the following appointments:

    North Carolina Domestic Violence Commission

   •  Phil Kline (Mecklenburg County) - Kline is president and CEO of Safe Alliance. He spent more than 27 years with Royal & Sun Alliance, including serving as vice president of human resources and treasurer. Kline served as president and CEO of the Mint Museum, providing the leadership to build the Mint Museum Uptown facility. He will serve as chairman.

   •  Rebecca Macy (Orange County) - Macy is the L. Richardson Preyer Distinguished Chair for Strengthening Families and the associate dean for academic affairs at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Social Work. She is a licensed clinical social worker.

   •  Gretchen Banks (Yancey County) - Banks works for Mission Health Children's Pediatric Hospital in Asheville. Prior to joining the hospital, Banks was a faculty member at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. She was also a pediatric hospitalist at Brenner Children's Hospital.

   •  David Elliot (Wake County) - Elliot is the director of Victims and Citizen Services for the North Carolina Department of Justice. He previously served as assistant attorney general for North Carolina. Elliot received his undergraduate degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and his law degree from Duke University.

   •  Michael Silver (Forsyth County) - Silver is an assistant district attorney in Forsyth County. He teaches criminal law, constitutional law and courtroom administration at Forsyth Technical Community College. Silver graduated from North Carolina Central University School of Law and is working on a master's degree in public administration at UNC-Chapel Hill.

   •  Dana Mangum (Durham County) - Mangum is the acting executive director at the NC Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Prior to this she served as the director of the NC Community AIDS Fund at Duke University Center for Health Policy and Inequalities Research. Mangum graduated from Duke University.

   •  Kate Stahlman (Union County) - Stahlman is one of the co-founders of Compassion to Act, a faith-based organization established to abolish human trafficking. Its vision is to promote human trafficking awareness and provide immediate and long-term services for victims. Services include providing short-term housing, health care, employment, legal aid, counseling and many other services. Stahlman holds a master's degree in family therapy.

    The commission assesses statewide needs related to domestic violence and assures that necessary services, policies and programs are provided to those in need. The council also coordinates and collaborates with the Council for Women in strengthening existing domestic violence programs and establishing new domestic violence programs. The term length is two years.

    North Carolina State Board of Community Colleges

    Wesley Fricks (Wake County) - Fricks is the assistant vice president of Grandbridge Real Estate Capital, a subsidiary of BB&T. He received his bachelor of science in agricultural business & economics from Auburn University. Fricks is filling an unexpired term that ends in 2015.

    The board serves as the governing authority for the North Carolina Community College System. The board adopts and implements the policies, regulations and standards necessary for administering and operating the state's community colleges. The term length in six years.

    North Carolina Veterinary Medical Board

    Dr. Jane Barber (Catawba County) - Barber is the owner of Veterinary Specialties at the Lake. She received a B.S. in animal science from the University of Georgia, a M.S. in anatomy from the University of Minnesota and her Ph.D. in theriogenology from the University of Minnesota.

    The board promotes the public health, safety and welfare of the people of the state by safeguarding them against unqualified or incompetent practitioners of veterinary medicine. Each member must reside in different congressional districts. The term length is five years.
