Born: October 31, 1946, Died: March 19, 2014

    Mr. Charles C. "Skipper" Edwards Sr., age 67, a resident of 105 Waterside Dr., Bath, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014.

    Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and will be conducted by Rev. Curtis White. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Bill Slade, Billy Bunn, Chris Bunn, Leon Wingate, Starley Stell, C.M. Cartwright, Billy Hill and Shelton Williams will serve as pallbearers. Walt Davis, Raymond Styons, John Holt, Pearson Chrismon, Vernon Godley and Harold Ormond will serve as honorary pallbearers.

    Mr. Edwards was born on October 31, 1946 in Beaufort County to late Carl and Lillian Guthrie Edwards. He was a 1965 graduate of John A. Wilkinson High School and received a B.S. in applied mathematics from NC State in 1969. On July 7, 1968 he married Mary Lynn Gurganus who survives. He served in the United States Army as a captain from 1969 until 1975, was retired as the engineering maintenance manager with PCS Phosphate and was a member of Bath Christian Church.

    Survivors include his wife Mary G. Edwards of the home, two daughters, Tina Edwards Clark and husband Charles of Bath, Anita Edwards Rayburn and husband Greg of Washington, one son, Chip Edwards and wife Mandy of Washington, four grandchildren, Curby Clark, Alexia Clark, Gavin Rayburn and Connor Edwards, two sisters, Carlene Styons and husband Raymond of Roper, Wanda Williams and husband Shelton of Belhaven and one sister in law, Peggy Bunn and husband Chris of Bath.

    The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Mark Beamer and the staff and nurses of Rivertrace Nursing Center.

    The family will receive friends at the home.
