"My thoughts and prayers continue to be with the families who have experienced loss in this disaster. Thanks are due to Governor McCrory for coming to eastern North Carolina," Sen. Bill Cook (R-District 1) said.

In Perquimans County 10 houses have been destroyed, 15 with major damage, and 14 or more with minor damage. Pasquotank County reports that 13 homes were destroyed, 17 sustained major damage, and many others significant damage.

Public Safety Secretary Frank Perry, Transportation Secretary Tony Tata and N.C. Emergency Management Director Frank Sprayberry joined Governor McCrory to examine the damage caused by Friday's severe weather.

Beaufort County has five areas with a substantial amount of damage. Those areas include: Douglas Cross-Road, River Road, Asbury Church Road, Neck Road and Whichard's Beach. There are 60 structures destroyed or with major damage and 189 homes with minor to moderate damage.

"After visiting with tornado victim help centers in Beaufort County yesterday and today, I am convinced that Senate District 1 has some of the most selfless altruistic folks in the State. Church folks and just folks were out providing water, food, clothes, toys and essential things to victims at several locations around the district. I am very proud of my District 1 neighbors," Cook said.
