    Mr. Eddie Lee Smith, age 53, a resident of 100 West Barr Road, Chocowinity, NC left this earthly home and entered the gates of Heaven on Friday May 2, 2014 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

    A funeral service will be held 2 pm Monday May 5, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Rev. Donnie Smith and Rev. Dale Clark. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Milton Jones, Josh Elks, Allen Wainwright, Kevin Baker, David Elks and Chris Elks will serve as pallbearers.

    The family will receive friends 6 pm to 8 pm Sunday May 4, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.

    Eddie was born in Pitt County on March 17, 1961 son of Charlie Lee Smith and the late Mary Elizabeth Howell Smith. He worked as fork life operator with Anne's House of Nuts in Robersonville. Eddie had worked at Walmart in Washington and Wilson as well as Impressions of Washington. He was a member of Pentecostal Gospel Holiness Church of Chocowinity.

    Surviving along with his father: Charlie Smith of the home is a step-mother: Joyce Smith of the home; a son: Thomas Lee Smith of Rocky Mount; two step-sisters: Joyce Baker and Margaret Wainwright both of Chocowinity; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Eddie was predeceased by a brother: Charles Steven Smith on April 5, 2007.

    In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks for memorial contributions to be made to the Eddie Smith Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 1465, Washington, NC 27889.
