The North Carolina Small Business Administration (NCSBA) Disaster Financial Assistance Center will close at 6:00 PM, Thursday, May 22.

For Immediate Release:

    The North Carolina Small Business Administration (NCSBA) Disaster Financial Assistance Center will close at 6:00 PM, Thursday, May 22. The center located inside the Beaufort County Health Department, 1436 Highland Drive, Washington offers financial assistance to homeowners, renters and business owners in the recovery process.

    Qualified applicants will have access to low interest loans available through the NCSBA or grant funds through North Carolina Emergency Management.

    Homeowners and renters will need to show identification and proof of residency in the form of a utility bill or lease. Businesses that incurred damages or loss of product or revenues as a result of the tornadoes may also apply for assistance. This includes landlords of rental property or any other type of business that was impacted.

The city council has only made two official acts as of February 16, 2026
While this afternoon’s update once again included increased probabilities of moderate to major impacts, it will likely be tomorrow before we receive specific accumulation details.
Government and its bureaucracy are not perfect, and never has been in this self-governed society, here at the local level, at our state level, and at our federal level, therefore, it is incumbent upon all elected politicians to seek a comfortable level of representation for our constituents.
Beaufort County is implementing a new emergency alert system. All residents are encouraged to sign up to receive alerts via phone and email.

Has the local government acted responsibly and transparently?
Beaufort County Commissioners meet, and work by a majority vote to do the business of those constituents they purport to represent.
Waste, fraud, abuse and incompetence continue to govern county school budgets and decision making.

However, if one believes that Beaufort County government is in full command of the issues of our times, here locally, one might need to steel their resolve for a more perfect understanding of the intellect possessed by the Center-Left /Left Coalition.
To borrow a big phrase from this salient plan originating at the federal level, under President Trump's watchful eye, whose time has finally arrived, even here in the mispent realm of Beaufort County government(s).
We must vet, and elect those who will actually represent the people or we will be stuck with the same mess we have now.
