    A Memorial Service for Willie Ralph Lawrence (formerly of Beaufort County) will be 2:30 pm Sunday, May 25, 2014 at the LR Randolph Chapel. Washington.

    Retired SFC Willie R. Lawrence was born in Beaufort County to the late Mary Lawrence Bragg on November 25,1935. He attended the local schools and was a graduate of Manley Vocational School in Chicago. He was enlisted in the U.S. Army for twenty years, serving four full tours of duty in Vietnam, attended Food Service School in Virginia and became a food service specialist and supervisor. Lawrence was the recipient of several honors as Best Mess Awards. At retirement, he returned to Washington, NC and married Barbara Kornegay and they moved to Memphis, Tenn. where he worked in the hospitality business with Holiday Inn and later employed with The Tenn. Department of Corrections.

    Survivors include his wife, Barbara K. Lawrence of the home and several relatives and other adopted families.

    Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery,
