    New Web pages offer a faster way to find information on Duke Energy websites

    Tired of searching for the streetlight repair form? Need a reminder about the right trees to plant in distribution rights of way? Our new city, county and local government Web pages offer "quick links" to forms, policies and other information you may need to do your job.     Are you prepared for severe weather?

    Hurricane season is under way. Experts forecast nine named storms and expect three of them to become hurricanes. The summer season also brings the risk of severe storms. Duke Energy, a recognized industry leader in storm preparedness and restoration, is ready for whatever Mother Nature brings. We encourage our customers and communities to take steps now to be prepared for severe weather events.     An update on outdoor lighting

    Lighting technology has made advancements in recent years, which means changes for our company and our customers. Duke Energy has been in the process of modernizing our lighting products and tariffs to bring more LED options to our customers. View the latest information on our outdoor lighting plans.

    Duke Energy's response to the Dan River coal ash release; long-term plans for ash

    In April, Paul Newton, Duke Energy state president – North Carolina, provided an update to the legislature's Joint Environmental Review Commission on the company's response to the Feb. 2 Dan River coal ash release and our near-term and longer-term actions to address coal ash across the state. "Duke Energy is committed to working with policymakers and regulators to implement both short- and long-term solutions to coal ash management in North Carolina," Newton said.     Duke Energy's 2013 Sustainability Report highlights social, environmental and financial performance

    The report provides details on five focus areas for the company: innovative products and services; environmental footprint; quality workforce; strong communities; and governance and transparency. The report also offers a comprehensive look at the company as we deal with such issues as coal ash, safety and operational impacts on wildlife.
